I am a resident of Brockton and a parent of a child who attends the Brockton Public Schools. I am fully against this proposed charter school in Brockton.

I am a resident and taxpayer. This school offers nothing new in education in Brockton. Brockton has plenty of choice which is probably why Mr. Walker originally did not come to Brockton but rather went to Fall River with his proposal. When the proposal failed in Fall River, then he came to Brockton to try to sell his scheme. Why Brockton and not another school district that might really need and benefit from Mr. Walker? Is the reason because the other districts would not get Mr. Walker as much money? Mr. Walker's grant from the Pennsylvania group for the Resiliency Foundation ends this year; is he really for education in Brockton or just looking for a him, his friends and relatives to just get a paycheck from Brockton taxpayers? I don't believe the 13th year is legal and it would discriminate against the other children in Brockton. The responses by the board to the questionnaire's filed with the state are incomplete and/or erroneous. Of the 18 people listed on the Board, only 4 live in Brockton and only 2 show up on the tax assessor's role. Just a few quick points; there are many more reasons to deny this charter.

Plenty of choice already here and outstanding teachers that challenge. My own children are proof!

Brockton already offers a multitude of alternative educational settings. I have read New Height's application and there is nothing they are offering that Brockton does not already do for our students. We can not afford to fund this school; our budget is already stretched too thin as it is.

Brockton's schools make amazing progress considering the high poverty rate (nears 80% in some schools), Engligh Langauge Learning population, high minority population (correlates with low standardized test scores), and high mobility rate. Who is getting the kickback from this charter school company that we have to keep fighting this?

Charter schools siphon funds away from the schools and students who need funding the most. The track record is clear, charter schools benefit their investors, not students.

This report was just issued by the National Association of Charter School Authorizers. In our group, Massachusetts is ranked #19 out of #21 when its policies were rated against best practices identified by the Association. So not only is a charter school in Brocton not needed, and harmful to our city, the report states that in general, Massachusetts needs to take a look at oversight of charter schools and make some improvements. https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/pageturnpro.com/Publications/201412/3251/62453/PDF/130620128970440000_NACSAstateanalysisFNL.pdf
