My own children rely on these bus routes to reach their school each morning. Please send this link to your neighbors right now so we can hit our first hundred signatures before the council meeting.

I am a surgeon at Calderdale and Huddersfield nhs trust. In my experience of more than 5 years as a consultant in the hospital is the social added value to our community of the Catholic schools in the Kirklees area. All support should be given to these charity organisations.
If the removal of financial support for transport goes ahead we would have to seriously look at the affordability of sending our twins to All Saints School. This is discriminatory!
Please tell me how you can force I child who has just turned 8, into walking from Almondbury to Dalton and them miles return uphill? The weather is dreadful, he is constantly frustrated and angry. He is too tired to do his homework. He doesn't want to go to school. He constantly has a cold. How can this cruelty be justified?
Children should have a right to a Catholic education if they so choose. Taking the free transport away will have a huge impact on low income families; once again discriminating against them.
Without the free bus service I would have been very reluctant to let my son travel such a distance from home to school at the age of 11 and 3 weeks (at the start of his year 7). The cost is quite substantial every month and the cost would act as a further barrier to accessing Catholic high school eduction in the area.

If the funding is removed good schools will struggle to maintain viable numbers and many pupils will therefore be deprived of the proven benefits of a Catholic education.
