We, the undersigned, call on Calder dale Council to abandon any plans that would result in an end to the funding of ‘discretionary’ transport for Roman Catholic students attending Catholic schools. The Council should acknowledge the fact that Catholic schools have been a key partner in the maintained schools sector over many years, that this position is enshrined in law and that Calderdale MC has a duty to enable Catholic children to attend their nearest Catholic school should that school be more than three miles from home (2 miles for under 8s).
The feedback from our council meetings remains discouraging because they still refuse to look at the practical reality of our children. I am exhausted by the constant bureaucratic stalling but I plan to keep pushing until they recognize their obligation to these students.

Keep the bus funding. Seems like the council wants to make it impossible for some families to choose the school they want.

Ridiculous decision. These schools are part of the community and the council should respect that instead of just looking for ways to save a few quid.

Totally agree. These routes have been in place for ages and there is no good reason to change them now. Leave it alone!

How are we supposed to get them there on time? absolute nightmare if this goes through.

My kids have gone to these schools for years. The council is being completely unfair cutting this off now. It puts so much stress on families.

Disgraceful. Dont take away our kids transport. Not everyone has a car to drive miles every morning.
