Policies are put in safe to keep people safe. Therefore these school policies need to change so kids aren't afraid to go to the administration when they feel they are in danger. With all of the gun violence in schools, the fact that she thwarted possible violence and is now being punished is just wrong.

Please allow this child to remain at her dream school. There was no evil in her heart, only trying to prevent a tragedy from happening. She is young and acted instinct. Why is the child who possessed the gun in the first place not being punished?

Instead of robbing a good kid of her future, can we just use this as a teachable moment, in that we sadly need policies in place that help these kids know what to do in a situation like this. Reinstate this child to Male High School.

If this student was not the one who brought the gun but was able to safely remove it from another student she should not be punished. Review the cameras on the bus and give this student her rights back to attend her school.

I know Phoenix and her family well, and have my entire life. There's no way that this story could ever be stretched to make me believe she ever would cause any harm to anyone. That's nothing like the character and person instilled in her. It's not only unjust, but pathetic that JCPS is handling the situation like this. With the many recent shootings that have become all too normal, this should be one of the highlighted situations that counters those tragic events. This could spotlight Kentucky in National News for a positive reason, instead of the typical embarrassing reasons. But instead, they are treating the matter the exact opposite. Phoenix sensed danger, and on impulse she was able to take control of the situation... ensuring her bus would not be the next American shooting headline. She did what so many faculty and officers haven't had the courage to do, or for whatever reasons did not do in those situations. Hold your head high Phoenix, you are an amazing young lady... Your split second decision making, your courage, and your name will be recognized for this, if we have to shout it from the mountain tops!!!

As a former alum I can’t believe this is the treatment this student got. Reconsider the profound impact this decision will have on her trajectory and make it right.
