I understand their stance and the no tolerance policy, but this was just a bit different and I think it deserves to be looked into and the sound of the audio listened to versus just watching a tape of what happened, it sounds like this girl’s intentions were innocent. I can understand possibly suspending her by not sending her to a different school altogether for a year maybe she could even get some gun control education or something along those lines that fits the punishment instead of destroying this child’s academic career. In Lieu of all that is happened with school shootings, Please consider a different approach.

She was protecting herself and others on the bus. This policy language applied to her is beyond atrocious.

She is a brave little girl and should be commended for her actions-not penalized.

Phoenix doe snot have behavioral problems and does not deserve alternative school. I understand the no tolerance policy, but suspension is even questionable in this situation. At this young age, taking a stand is hard and she did it!

Phoenix has worked hard to attend Male and thrive there. What she did should be rewarded, not punished.

Prayers for this brave girl!! Male/ JCPS needs to seriously review their policy on this along with many others ASAP.

So stupid she is in trouble for potentially saving lives of other young students.. Imagine how she must have felt after seeing the gun? I would be terrified. But yet she was able to act and think responsibly, and ends of screwed in the long run. What a joke!!!!

In my opinion Phoenix is a hero and should not be punished but instead acknowledged as a hero how do we expect our younger generation to do the right thing if they're going to be punished. Justice for Phoenix

This is wrong. The intent is safety and doing the right thing. Say something. Do something.

She did the right thing ! And thats all that should matter.. shes a hero. She saved her life as well as many others. The school system is a joke . I hope she knows that she took the right steps .
