White supremacy puts a psychological and thereby physiological strain on WOC and their beautiful babies. If we're going to talk about better birth, we first need to talk about disparities in outcomes for Black mamas. If Ina May and the natural birth movement at large doesn't deal with its white feminism problem, it will never achieve better birth. I'm with you!

As a black woman who is studying midwifery and have read some of her books, this breaks my heart. The high maternal death rate of Black women shouldn't be the reason for pointing fingers and blming these women. The government and even midwifery clinics should work harder to make something happen because as Canada we believe in Equal rights! Thank you and God bless you!

It is appalling for someone who has had a lifetime in the spotlight within the birthing community to be so grossly ignorant to POC's experience in the birthing process. Shame on Ina May until she publically renounces her statements and makes clear measures toward empowering ALL women in their birth journey.

This is not the first time I have been offended and disappointed by Ina May's comments. The last time it was due to homophobic and transphobic beliefs and the time before that it was due to judgmental and offensive comments about abortion. Enough is enough! As a midwife, I demand an apology and hope that we stop looking up to her as a hero and the "mother" of midwifery. No more!! Not in my name!

I have long admired Ina May's knowledge of midwifery and birth. I was very upset and troubled by her remarks. What a shame that her personal beliefs are racist and wrong. For someone who talks facts, she got it all wrong. Open your mind Ina May and your heart. Lean before you speak again.

As a Mexican American woman who has read spiritual midwifery and had two births with midwives (one of those at home) I am so disappointed to hear about ina mays comments. I really looked up to her.
