Exclusively teleworking has improved my mental and physical health, along with my relationships with my family and friends, as I now have more time to see and interact with them. I pollute less, drive less, waste less because I spend more time at home and I am more efficient. I'm happier and more positive about my career, all while being just as, if not more, productive than before teleworking. The best part, I dont expose myself and others to potentially deadly diseases that have killed nearly a hundred thousand Californians.
The downside? FTB "culture" has been negatively affected. Does FTB really want a culture that stands opposed to all of the positives listed above? It is literally a toxic, unhealthy culture.

We had multiple breakouts within the last 6 weeks. Since, I am on probation and do not have a company's laptop. I have to come in the office each day. In addition, I have not been around my family to protect them.

No reason to be in the office when so many that are have Covid and refuse to stay home because they don’t have time.

It is rediculous to be required to come into the buildng. TW has been proven to be cost effective, safer, and awards have even been given to areas that have developed a successful virturl training world for new hires. Being forced to come into the build puts our loved ones at risk. Management has forgot about the human aspect of this issue and has chosen to disregard it. We all have our own obsticles to deal with when it comes to TW -v- being in the building and it is very transparent the family aspect has fallen to the waist side. Example: I have stated more than one time to management I am inbetween houses and living with my parents until my house is ready. BIG issue with me becasue my dad has cancer and I am putting his life along with others at risk. The pros 100% out-weigh the cons.

The state of California is behind the times when it comes to teleworking. This has been an option for many years with outher comapanies that have proven it to be successful. FTB has ALSO proven that it is successful. There are plenty of positions that can be 100% telework and sadly there are positions that need to be in office, but this blanket policy where everyone has to come in 1-2 days a week is ridiculous, this isn't the "fair policy" that everyone thinks it is. The people that can stay home should stay home. I know for myself, I get a lot more done with no intruruptions from being home. I am less likely to call in when my family members are sick because i can still work, and if there is an emergency where i need to pick my child up, I can do it on a 15min break because I am so close. Forcing people to go back when it is not necessary is ridiculous. All you're doing is making the work force miserable. So enjoy more calls ins, less staff, more resignations, less applicants for new hires, workload decreases, missed deadlines and unhappy employees. And if I hear one more manager say "its for the collaboration" I'll scream, managers HATE when staff talk so please stop using the "we're together again", we're together so that micro managers can keep an eye on people and that is it. You have to get out of the mindset that people have to show up to a building to get a job done, people can work anywhere in the world and get their job done and do it well!

Management is responsible for the recent outbreaks within the FTB. When my area was designated as one of the outbreak areas in early May, I requested to 100% telework. They denied my request. A week later, management allowed us to telework 100% for 3 weeks. It took a week for them to make decisions! Fortunately, there has been no Covid case in my area. 100% teleworking prevents Covid from spreading within the FTB. If you can’t make the workplace safe, then why keep going on about FTB culture and collaboration. They don’t exist without us. They don’t disappear when we telework.

I understand GCs desire to 'return to normal', however NOTHING is normal anymore.
Obviously, by GCs own admission, FTB employees have been successful with telework. Then why change it for changes sake? Just to fulfill some grand vision of normality and 'relationship' buidling.
All fine and good, but the road to Covid 19 infection is filled with good intentions.
This decision has directly caused the infections of FTB employees.
Absolutely careless on the part of management. You really should think more deeply upon the decisions you make and the real impact on the employees you so vociferously care about. Give 100% telework to those that can perform it. This will also provide greater protection for our fellow FTB employees that must work on site due to the nature of their job (extractions, mail, Et al.).

Teleworking 100% of the time is essential for everyone's safety from catching this horrific disease and bringing it home to your love ones. Why are we being forced to come in office when there no essential
business reasons to do so? We just spend precious time, energy and financial resources to commute. If fhere is real need to be at or in the office, then you should be there. As long as one's productivity does not diminished, we should be given a choice.

I am waiting to be able to start teleworking and the laptop was delivered weeks ago. I'm wondering what the hold up is in getting my telework "profile" set up. They said maybe 14 days and that was over 2 weeks ago now.

The comments from management that we need to be physically together to make a team are a tone deaf, and insulting. They ignore the fact that we HAVE been team building and getting to know each other very well, to the comfort levels of all involved, while teleworking. Yes there are some people that desire and require physical contact with others to feel whole, but a majority are more comfortable getting to know each other over Teams. Summers for so many families are so much easier when 100% telework is available as daycare doesn't need to be found. With the economy in the dumpster, gas and everything up, forcing people to come into an office sometimes dozens of miles away only makes being a state worker even less rewarding when it comes to pay. Plus it adds so much time to each persons day with commute times being I'd guess on average of 1 hour both roundtrip. That is 2 hours a week, 8 to 10 hours a month. An entire days work every
month added onto everyone's time for commuting. Requiring people to physically be there for the reasons given is anti-worker.
