The current system lacks effective oversight and accountability. The healthcare system needs a new Board of Directors—one that is responsible to the public it serves and held accountable for decisions that directly affect patient care, access, and outcomes. RMC’s acquisition of all area hospitals, followed by the closure of multiple facilities, has created a healthcare monopoly in our region. This consolidation has reduced patient choice, limited access to timely care, increased strain on remaining facilities, and negatively affects both patients and healthcare workers. Monopolies do not serve the public interest. Competition in healthcare is a proven equalizer, it drives higher standards of care, improves efficiency and prioritizes patient needs over profit.

My sister stayed in the ER and RMC over 12 hours before t hey moved her to a floor, she is 78 and no mobility. The ER area she was in was filthy! She had to use a bedside toilet which was not clean and they never emptied it. The whole area had a very foul order.

RMC is not a great hospital and they need to be bought out by another hospital and start over.

On October 11, 2016 at 4pm my hospital room at this “baby safe hospital” at RMC in Anniston Alabama was bombarded by unwelcome guests, including people claiming to be police without a warrant nor a court order. They came in and accused me of being someone else from another state they believed was out on bond and therefore created a false “emergency” to kidnap my child out of my arms at one day old. RMC then allowed a woman by the name of Kristin Alex Martin to sign as the mother of my child and discharge him from the hospital with no legal authority to do so. Almost 10 years later I still do not know where my child is. Looks like your days are finally coming to an end RMC. You’re welcome. ✌️

My mother passed away at RMC December 3 2025 . She was brought in for breathing issues a suffered a heart attack . While I do believe she was critical, they didn’t let me see her while she was still conscious even though I followed the ambulance in.. I knew my mom was passing away because a doc tor came into the lobby talking to someone and said “ I’ve been running a code for awhile . So I knew without a doubt my mother would not make it . She did not . She was pronounced at 4:23 am . I am grateful they they let me in at her last moments . I did not get to let her know that I was there when she first arrived . The room she was in was less than clean and I hate her last moments of being aware we’re in that room with a dirty floor with strangers . I do believe they probably did the best they could . I hope and pray that is correct .. But better care needs to be taken of not only patients but their families. And doctors need not be talking about that’s going on to others without letting the family know . I am still so very mad about that!

When this hospital is continually rated as one of the worst hospitals in Alabama, something needs to be done.

This petition doesn't even touch on the HIPAA violations I witnessed first hand. I'll drive to Pell City or Birmingham before stepping foot in RMC's ER again!

Its messed up tht the ppl of Calhoun County- Anniston Oxford area have to travel 45 mins away to a wonderful hospital when we have a hospital just mins away but everyone is afraid of going there for many reasons, not being treated properly, unaliving, dismissed and the dang waiting.. I will not return to this hospital and will make tht 45 mile trip to a great hospital. Maybe things will change for the better..

Something has to be done. Everyone around here is traveling to UAB/St. Vincent in Pell City for care.
