Dear Sir/Madam， I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding the mixed doubles match between Wang Chuqin / Sun Yingsha and Hugo Calderano / Bruna Takahashi, which took place at 4:00 PM on 19 May 2025 during the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals in Doha. It appeared that Wang Chuqin’s racket had been deliberately tampered with, as the rubber sponge was visibly peeled or damaged before the match began. This is a very serious matter, as the racket is the most essential piece of equipment in table tennis, and such interference could severely affect the fairness of the game and the athlete’s performance. More concerning was the conduct of the assigned umpire, Mr. Najeh Ghachem, who failed to handle the situation professionally. Rather than inspecting the racket and investigating the issue, Mr. Ghachem dismissed the complaint by repeatedly insisting the match begin, without taking the time to check the condition of the equipment or understand the situation. As an official, it is his responsibility to ensure that all equipment meets regulation standards and that players’ concerns are properly addressed before the match starts—not to rush the start of play while ignoring a legitimate issue. I respectfully urge the ITTF to thoroughly investigate this incident and take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the sport and ensure such situations are handled more responsibly in the future.
