Complaint Letter
Dear Relevant Officials of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF),
Hello!
I am an avid table tennis enthusiast who has been closely following various international table tennis events for many years. The competitive spirit, fighting will, and superb skills demonstrated by the athletes in table tennis deeply attract me, filling me with love and respect for this sport. However, the incident of Wang Chuqin's racket rubber being damaged during the 1/16 mixed doubles final between Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha on May 19th has been like a huge boulder dropped into a calm lake, stirring up waves of anger and disappointment in my heart and also raising serious doubts about the fairness and professionalism of the tournament.
During that highly anticipated match, the atmosphere at the venue was extremely enthusiastic. The audience was full of anticipation, eager to witness the thrilling showdown between top - tier players. Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, as a powerful combination, carried the expectations of countless fans. From the very beginning of the match, they quickly got into the groove, engaging in fierce competition with their opponents through their exquisite skills and seamless teamwork. However, an unexpected incident suddenly occurred during the match - Wang Chuqin's racket rubber was damaged. This sudden turn of events instantly disrupted the rhythm of the match and also worried everyone who was paying attention to the game.
Regarding this incident, after in - depth reflection, I would like to raise the following doubts:
1. Doubts about the Professionalism of the Quality Inspection Personnel
The racket is the "weapon" of a table tennis player on the court, and its quality and compliance with regulations are of utmost importance. Before the match, the rackets are supposed to undergo strict quality inspection procedures to ensure they meet the match requirements. However, the fact that Wang Chuqin's racket rubber was dama

I hope to seriously deal with the tennis racket incident involving Chinese athlete Wang Chuqin. The first is the Paris Olympics, and the second is the Doha World Table Tennis Championships. In terms of the degree of racket damage, more than 90% is due to human factors, and 10% is due to improper management. Fans request that the entire process of testing the athlete's racket be made public, so that we can supervise table tennis together and contribute to the development of the table tennis industry.

Please take the matter in relation to the racket of Wang Chuqin in round 32 of mixed doubles solemnly.
The racket of Wang Chuqin, which shall have passed the racket control test before the beginning of the match, was damaged with the rubber being opened and detached before the entrance of athletes to the court.
In between the examination and the beginning of the match, it is the responsibility of the officials and referee to properly safeguard that the rackets are transferred without any damages to rackets or rubber to the venues.
The incident can absolutely be prevented if the officials had properly managed to transfer the rackets to the court with care and reasonable procedures during the period in question. The ITTF Statutes 2025 also does not provide any concrete mechanisms to protect athletes facing this kind of incidents where the rackets are damaged between the period after the racket control test and before the actual match, during which the athletes are unable to monitor the behaviour of the officials.
