Every homeowner in the state of Florida that pays assessment fees to an HOA should receive the following 2 documents every month or every quarter from their HOA. (1) an itemized "income statement" that shows expenses and revenues of the HOA. AND (2) a "balance sheet" that summarizes assets and liabilities. This should be made state law. Require HOAs to provide this information to every homeowner that is in good standing. If they don't, then the Board of Directors of that HOA would be subject to certain penalties to include being recalled from their positions. Also, homeowners should have more power in determining the yearly budget.

We basically hire these people to administer your money for a better neighborhood. We need transparency and law enforcement against corruption.

We need protection from these sleazy people who pretend to work for us and they do the opposite. Money does not grow on trees, we work hard for it to see go down the drain.

I live in Pembroke Pines, Fl WOODRIGE zip code 33025 Please pay attention to where our maintenance is going and how the association is administrating our money. Are they wasting our resources or are they using the budget for their personal convenience?. That it’s concerning me; please help us. Thank you.

By the way, I go onto this page from a link on JC Porras' Twitter Feed. Comments are directed at him, as the elected representative (and legislator) from District 119.

Why do you need a petition? You are a legislator! You have the power to change the law, to make it more transparent. Instead of gathering signatures for a petition, why don't you do your job as a legislator and actually draft a bill that addresses the problem? If you need help, ask your buddy Fernandez-Barquin from HD 118. He's supposed to be a real estate lawyer, and if he's not bought out by the condo management companies and developers, maybe he'll help you draft a bill. For everyone else in this forum who is not a legislator, please hold this Gen Z'er ACC0UNTABLE. He's got TWO YEARS as a state rep to fix this problem. If he doesn't, please vote him out of office in 2026. We need representation that is accountable to THE PEOPLE, NOT THE GOVERNOR AND NOT SPECIAL INTERESTS.
