We have been seasonal residents of Chippewa Bay for almost 50 years , as well as our parents before us. We do pay a portion of property taxes as well as school taxes every year. The construction of a slaughterhouse & subsequent selling of the products to make a "living" so to speak may be "ok" however NOT in this location for all the reasons stated above by everyone. There should have been more of a "vote" by the people of Hammond on this topic & not a decision made by a limited few.

Please do not allow this to happen.

With all of the old farming properties no longer active I would think there must be a more suitable location in the rural areas away from the river.

It is time for the Town of Hammond to protect homeowners by enacting a new comprehensive plan for the Town that includes zoning.

I am signing to help protect the quality of life near the River. Having a SASS designation would have helped enormously in a situation like this.

The Ohio Boys strongly oppose this irresponsible proposal. The beauty of the St. Lawrence River should not, under any circumstances be jeopardized by an unsightly slaughterhouse. The location makes no sense at all. Absolutely unacceptable!!

Please stop this ill-conceived plan for all of the thoughtful reasons listed above. We can do better as a community.

Unnaceptable! We WILL sue the town of Hammond if this type of land use is passed and is constructed. Irresponsible and unheard of to construct a slaughterhouse in that area. No way

Our family continues to reside in Hammond after 5 generations. I am working on keeping the 6th generation interested in being land owner(s) in this beautiful area. I support new business and grew up on our multi-generation farm, but the location of this slaughter house will ruin much of the River area of Hammond. Between the smell, flies and the waste (on a property of bedrock), I do not see how this will enhance our community. Property that has been in families for generations will now be of little value despite their location on or near the River. There has to be a way to find a more suitable location for this business.

It’s a terrible location. Building town homes can be seen for miles. Now a slaughter house. It’s residential and belongs in a commercial area. Flies will be so bad. No thanks.

Shame on you. This is a bad, disraceful idea.

We are concerned with the possible odor from this business and the impact to our home value.

Any proposed land use by prospective owners in the town of Hammond not covered by existing specific zoning laws should be open for review, discussion and input by landowners prior to purchase approval. The petition's proposed recommendations should be approved by the town and all other relevant officials.
