It’s just not good enough

There seems never to be any response to test results and follow up from doctors or nurses. One has to spend hours calling after 2pm, usually without response and without the opportunity to discuss the results with a doctor.

I do not understand the current inefficiencies or why so many changes are being undertaken for systems that have worked well in the past and takes extra time.

This is with reference to the Modality practice at Crawley Down, West Sussex. Yesterday and today tried to get an appointment and experienced the same dreadful response as other complainants- “no appointments available, call back tomorrow” - with no indication of whether or not any appointments might be available. Placing all responsibility on the patient (who by definition, has already got enough to concern them, to do the work and bear the strain of worry besides their prevailing medical need. A completely uncaring approach and not worthy of the description Health SERVICE. There is no service and this needs to change as a matter of urgency.

When I called Crawley Down I was 25 in the queue, only to be told, no appointments after an hour wait. Try tomorrow? No point. It’s the same every day.

As someone who has worked for the NHS for 71/2 years (in a busy hospital , in blood sciences lab) and been a patient at Ship st for over 20 years, along with my 3 children. I know only too well how broken and over stretched the NHS systems are but Ship st is on another level and I also know some of the things they tell you are not true! I want answers to the questions. The patient care being offered at Ship st is abominable. My daughter is a type 1 diabetic and we have had to source most of her treatment and care through UCL hospital in london, as Ship st have failed on many occasions to provide the necessary care. I was told by Dr. Flatman when they blocked my access to mias repeat prescriptions just before her 11th birthday, causing me to have to buy needles and blood glucose strips and I’m a single parent. I mentioned this at the appointment to gain proxy access for Mia and was told that they were, “running a business and if I wanted to make a complaint I could”. Mia asked me why the Dr was so angry I said I had no idea. This is just one example of many many situations which I find totally unacceptable from a community care provider.

On behalf of my elderly dad who is a patient of ship st/modality. Recently we have consistently had min 10mins wait PER PLACE in phone queue, usually 60+ mins - not acceptable wait times to get through.

I ordered my prescription on 10th March, the GP approved it and yet the pharmacy knew nothing of it. I had to go without my medication for 3 days

Please respond to accurate statement of events and experience. The level of taxation / funding I personally invest requires a greater level of service... I am a customer first, a patient second, I do feel we are receiving value for money.
