The Common Core as a concept isn't bad. What is horrific is the incredible amount of money Pearson and others are making at the expense of our children's education. The rollout of the curriculum was flawed, the test are flawed, the growth model is flawed, and the lack of concern by our State's leadership is bewildering.

As a taxpayer and an educator, it is clear that this test is not in the best interest of our students. Governor Cuomo advocates charter schools under the pretense of equality in education. Tis could not be further from the truth. There is a curriculum in place in every school that covers the topics required by NYS. Teachrs receive the required education to impart this curriculum. The oportunity to learn, therefore, is equal. However, due to behavior and absentee issues, learning disabilities, apathy, etc. , perhaps children cannot learn at the same rate. Cuomo and the education department are seeking a one size fits all achievement leval. If they had any interest in the students they would realize ability levels, brain development, and differentiation for our students are factors to be consiered. Raise the standards for our children, but do so in a fair and rational way.

Common Core is utter nonsense, a waste of time and money and is ROBBING children of valuable educational time they will NEVER recoup!

Students are not absorbing the preparation for the excessive testing. My students display misbehavior in Art class when I start to prepare them for the Art tests we must give. It is very stressful on us teachers to have them cooperate in this situation when they have already prepared for their academic tests in their regular classroom.

listen to voice of the people you represent or the people who pay you. We are concerned parents. Would you not want somebody to hear your voice if it was your child?!

These tests need to be released so that parents and the public know how they are not grade level appropriate. Testing children two to three years above grade level is setting them up failure. Once these test are exposed somebody needs to be held accountable for ruining our children's and teacher's reputation. Calling them "failures" because students are not passing a poorly designed test is irresponsible and those in charge of approving these test should be liable for all the damage they caused to public schools, their students and teachers!!!
