I do not understand why we have allowed a British corporation to take over American Public Education, stifling, limiting what our children learn, boring our children with mindless repetition of things that are unimportant, expecting children to learn developmentally inappropriate material in developmentally inappropriate ways, scripting teachers' teaching and instruction, limiting teacher expertise during instruction and creation of instructional materials and curriculum, penalizing children and their teachers for failing assessments that are designed to create failure, which puts even more money into Pearson's, charter school owners', and pols' hands. These tests are way above grade appropriate levels and involved too much time having to go back and forth from question to article to find a specific line or paragraph. The texts were also difficult for inner city students to relate to.
