Leave the zones the way they are! Every time you rezone kids, you cause more fear, more hated, more racism. Parents are moving away due to this, so that seems to be a very clear message to their kids, don't you think. Little ones have ears & they hear what's being discussed in their homes.
It's one thing to be civil & have friends of all colors. It's quite another thing to have this forced on you when you don't want it.
It should never be forced. If you want to live in certain places to protect your child from possible crime or gangs (these are the kids' parents we're talking about),you should have the right to protect your kids from exposure to unfit people. There are good & bad in all races, so WHAT are you trying to accomplish? Make issues about income, skin color? LEAVE IT ALONE. Let people choose their own friends & neighborhoods.
You're making a mess out of children's lives. JUST STOP.

1. Not enough time/data given to parents 2. Proposal has already deeply divided strong communities like Dilworth/Myers Park that CMS is relying heavily on to make these schools succeed 3. Incoming Superintendent and new CMS Board should be responsible for creating new plan, not dealing with fallout from current proposal from outgoing leadership. DELAY THE VOTE

I ask that the vote be delayed by 1-2 months in order to create a plan that will make the Dilworth and Sedgefield merger successful.

Please delay the vote and 1) Provide data of current schools vs projection base on proposal 2) CMS' implementation plan 3) Time for parents/communities to evaluate and communicate alternatives or buy-in. -Charlotte resident with 3 & 1 year old

Public trust and confidence are imperative for government to be effective. CMS allocating a couple weeks for stakeholders (parents) to deliberate a plan that has been a multi-year CMA effort fosters neither (trust or confidence).

These are very good points and valid concerns. It is not unreasonable for these parents and other people in these communities to ask for a delay in the vote.
