It's bad enough not getting inflationary pay rises, but this is unacceptable. it's already difficult to recruit staff, this will make it even harder to retain those that we already have.

USS has assets of £60bn, outgoings of £2bn p.a., contributions of £2bn p.a., prudent investment income of £2bn p.a. How is an excess of £2bn of income over outgoings a deficit? Don't be conned by tramline thinking.

USS is wilfully ignoring the conclusions of the JEP and as such the fight must resume to overturn any detriment proposed.

As someone who spent 13 years as a single parent supporting my family on hourly paid contracts in a range of universities - before my 19 years teaching full-time - my pension does not reflect the 32 years I have put into teaching .
The increasing casualisation of HE and FE will make this an problem increasingly common and this group will be particularly vulnerable to attacks on their pensions. Further assaults on pension provision A part of a wider devaluation of HE and FE -with devastating consequences for staff, students and uk

As Co-chair of Bournemouth University UCU and the Southern Region Committee of UCU I have heard the concerns and anger of members of the USS. There is no detriment. The USS must implement the JEP. in full.

Salaries cut by almost 20% over the last 10 years and now employers want us to increase our pension contributions to 42.5%. Talk about adding insult to injury - you couldn't make it up!

The USS exec seem not to believe in defined benefit pensions. They should listen to the Joint Expert Panel - who are leading experts and know their subject - who have shown that on reasonable assumptions - not the extreme pessimism the USS executive insist on - the USS scheme is in good shape.

This flies in the face of what we fought for by taking industrial action last year, and is totally unacceptable.

It's astonishing that after all we've been through with the strike and JEP agreement that USS is doing this.

Accepting the JEP's analysis and proposals would be fair way to end what otherwise threatens to become a long-running dispute.
