Deer Park P.S. Air Safety Concern

I agree with this petition: our children's health should be the first priority. Please keep me informed.

I am concerned about the impact to our children and would prefer that the work is done during non school hours.

From what I know about how this school is run, this comes as absolutely no shock to me.

Please stop the works now! You had the entire summer for doing repairs, shame on you!

My daughter has been experiencing headaches lately which might be related to this. Please consider the welfare of the children, too young to be exposed to things like this.

I believe this work should of been done during summer time or during non school hours. Twice I already had to keep my son home due to the smell. I love very close to school and I as well wake up to the smell in my unit.

This is outrageous. And absolutely irresponsible.

Set clear timelines, extend the work to include weekends and early shifts 5am + after 6pm shifts in order to expedite the completion of the reroofing. There are options available and they need to be considered

Please make Deer Park's air quality safe ! This is where our / your children spend at least 6-10 hours a day , 5 days a week !

I am mom to Taly and Maayan de Lara at Deer Park Junior & Senior Public School. I am concern about the air quality inside the school due to the current roof repairs. I would like the air to be checked for the safety of the teachers and students at school. Regards Karen

This is ridiculous! How could you do such construction work without a proper notice to the parents. The construction has to be stopped immediately.

This work should be planned for times when school is not in session! Please protect our children's health

Something needs to be done about this . My son has been moved out of his classroom several times due to this issue and both my kids are home this afternoon

Why wasn't this work planned, scheduled for the 2-month summer vacation time? The school is not safe for kids.

(Update Jan. 17, 2 pm)​ Councillor Josh Matlow's office just called to say the work site is now shut down until Thursday, pending a Toronto Public Health Dep't investigation. Please still consider signing the petition in case they try to resume work on Thursday.

The roof at Deer Park is under extreme renovation and there is a very strong and disturbing tar smell hovering in and around the school. A lot of the students have been complaining about headaches, dizziness, itchy eyes and many others. 'm a parent at Deer Park school and it is UNACCEPTABLE that our kids and teacher are exposed to the toxic fumes produced for fixing the roof. Why is this work being done during school with kids involved? The work should have been done during the summer or weekends. Please solve this problem as soon as possible.
