One of the worst causes of air pollution in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario is the steel plant. There are emissions resulting from iron and steel plants that have a direct impact on the environment, climate change and increasing the exposure to chronic diseases, for example COPD, asthma, and could lead to a shorter life span. Some steel plants have many different pollution prevention tactics that they use. Those steel plants try removing most of the objectionable impurities from the air or gas discharged to the outside and keep the escape of pollutants from other miscellaneous or unpreventable sources to a minimum. I am trying to raise awareness of the air pollution the steel plant is causing, and expressing how bad it is for our environment and our health. I would like to see a change in the air pollution coming from the steel plant, and hope to see a difference in the future.
