Thank you for doing this. My, now adult son, went through the schools when we were not even allowed to use the word, dyslexia. Families don't need to go through what went through.

Can I sign twice? lol...The educational system that our beautiful, intelligent, amazing children are in...is flawed. Let's up our game CT!! Let's give our children the support and resources they need without having to hire lawyers and advocates. It should be a given.

I am a parent of 2 Dexlexic student with little support throughout their education and now after one completing college with 3.0 finding it very difficult to get jobs. Trying to become a high school history teacher but unable to pass the out dated spelling section on ct tests to become a teacher. Does anyone know what can be done at that level, all of his educators have said he would be a great teacher any advice is welcomed .

dyslexia effects 1 in 4 students in a classroom. Early identification and intervention will not only help our students get the tools they need to succeed but should also decrease the amount of time and money that goes into ineffective interventions. With proper identification and intervention at the primary level, these kids can succeed!

I hope some of this will finally reach our kids in schools and give them the specific tools and support they need to be just as successful as any other student.

Some of the world's greates minds, past and present, have been dyslexic. Yet, we continue to try and box these children in. Too many educators have no idea what dyslexia means to a student.

Sometimes it feels so frustrating that we need legislation to ensure every child is given the opportunity to thrive. It seems logical that our system would be doing everything necessary to ensure our children's success. But children with dyslexia need this legislation so that systems can be put in place to ensure each child equally receives the highest quality of support and services This legislation is critical and I am proud to be a part of making this happen.

It is a social injustice that teachers do not have the tools to effectively teach students with dyslexia. Please help!

Even if all this comes true... the system will remain broken until schools are mandated parameters for determining "at-risk" for dyslexia. This needs to be independent of historical SPED criteria. With dyslexia tied to SPED schools abandon dyslexic kids who don't fall below average in achievement tests.
