The Mom & Dad warriors do so much to work with their kids yet it's CRITICAL for the schools to provide the appropriate programs for them. It's the right thing to do. It's the necessary thing to do.

Evidence based services are crucial for every child struggling with dyslexia to thrive academically, emotionally and socially. Denying evidenced based services denies children with dyslexia the opportunity to thrive and succeed!

My son has severe dyslexia and newtown school district is denying evidence based services which is essential for his ability to read and thrive academically, emotionally and socially.

We need evidence based interventions in CT schools at the earliest suspicion of dyslexia- we have to stop waiting for these smart, struggling learners to fail before schools provide the help required for success.

All of my 3 children and 2 of my grandchildren are dyslexic. I am also dyslexic so I know the strongly they have to go throw just to get what they need to be successful in school and life!

My daughter Sophie, who is now 17, is dyslexic and had to advocate strongly to get what she needs to be successful. She is an example of what you can achieve when given the right support. I just wish it was less of a fight for her on a daily basis. Hopefully, this petition will bring the awareness that is needed to support the children.

My 8 year is old daughter is in the process of being diagnosed with Dyslexia. It runs in our family. It is very frustrating how little the teachers know about it.

The children are looking for help. We as adults should be helping them.

Early diagnosis and intervention is key to students' success. Without my own advocacy for my daughter, she would have continued to been called lazy and unmotivated. The teachers in her school are not knowledgable in her learning difference and did not see the signs of struggle in her reading. I am a public school teacher as well and feel that, until my own drive to seek knowledge of dyslexia after my daughter continued to struggle with reading, I was not knowledgeable either. It is important that all teachers know the early signs of this learning difference so all students needing support receive such support and can be successful in their learning.

This is very important! Public Education do not have the resources (staff, programs, funding) to teach our children. My child has Global LD's including Dyslexia so we chose private school to focus on her needs. I am so fortunate to be a part of a wonderful school but affording the program has been difficult. Changes have to be made!

I'm so tired of my son being called lazy and being punished in public schools.

Father of a dyslexic son. Public education in CT is not equipped or properly trained to provide the level of services my son needs for a free and appropriate education. The school is being proactive, but they don't have the money, tools and resources they need to comply with their legal obligations.

So important - early detection/remediation absolutely changes a childs tragectory of success in school.

Mother of a dyslexic daughter. The struggle with public education in CT is completely frustrating. The school is being proactive, but they don't have the tools and resources they need. I would be happy to talk about our experiences.
