Aloha no, While I oppose Naʻi Aupuni, I know we have our Lahui Hawaiʻi kanaka maoli still trying to educate those American patriots to the reality that our Lahui continues to exists, that we can and WILL succeed in being recognized as an independent Hawaiian Nation again. While we supposedly lost our lahui overnight, we will continue to regain it by sharing, educating, engaging and collaborating in movements like these. ʻOhana, we are closer than we think; and this fakestate of Hawaiʻi and America knows it - they are running for cover. Na'i Aupuni has no right to speak for my grandchildren and those children not yet born.

Here's a question... true, not hypothetical... I was born in the Paia Sugar plantation dispensary in 1948. I am a legitimate subject of Hawaii before statehood of Korean/Portuguese descent with zero Hawaiian blood. Do I have any voice in this process? I am of local Japanese descent--I am not Kanaka ʻŌiwi--but I have witnessed the way that the Naʻi Aupuni process has operated to exclude Kanaka ʻŌiwi voices and concerns while failing to educate people about the issues that will have tremendous consequences for them. This process has not been a transparent process, and it has only resulted in dividing 'Ōiwi communities and manufacturing distrust.

This Na'i Aupuni is an affront to Kanaka Maoli ! Stop this nonsense and trying to make our Lahui a dependent slave.

Na'i Aupuni is not a legitimate process. The US Supreme Court ruled that under US Constitutional law this process is in fact illegal due to the race-based roll created by OHA thru the entity Kana'iolowalu Hawaiian Roll Commission. The only reason Na'i Aupuni is being allowed to continue is that they are simply having a private meeting. This private meeting is not an actual self-determination process due to 1-The Supreme Court's halting of the illegal, race-based voting process to elect delegates; 2-therefore, the candidates for delegate are now mere "participants;" 3) furthermore, they are not representative of the majority of Kanaka Maoli, who may or may not have signed onto the Kana'iolowalu Roll; 4) which puts in question the legality of beneficiary/federal monies used in all processes leading up to this clan destined private meeting 5) that is parading as an 'Aha to draft governing documents exclusively for members who signed onto the roll, or Constitutional Convention for members only; 6) which is a major conflict of interest as many participants are also paid staff members of OHA, DHHL, the State of Hawai'i, UH Manoa, etc. On behalf of my entire Keawekane-Stafford 'ohana and our collective kupuna and Ali'i who signed the Ku'e petition, I reject Na'i Aupuni and all participant's claims as legitimate representatives in any way, shape or form. I reject any federal recognition as specified and presented by the Na'i Aupuni participants, the Dept. of Interior (DOI), the US Federal Government, the State of Hawai'i, OHA, etc. forever and ever. Again, I reiterate, this so-called 'Aha Na'i Aupuni is a private group of people using beneficiary and/or federal funds to have a private meeting, that has absolutely no bearing on the rest of the Kanaka Maoli population whether they signed up on the Kana'iolowalu Roll or not.
