I, a student of Sri Sathya Sai Baba (or Swami, as He is known to many) wish to share my personal experience of studying at the Sri Sathya Sai Educational Institutions during His lifetime.

I wish to state that:

I. My relationship with Swami was purely a spiritual one, that of a Guru and his disciple; even though at different times in my life, I have related to him in my own special way, seeing in him, variously, a parent figure, a friend, a guide or a god.

II. During my stay, Swami and the institute’s efforts were focused wholly on my education, character and intellectual, emotional and spiritual development.

III. Not once was this sacred bond abused. I have never been approached for any money, gifts or sexual advances from Swami or any of our teachers acting on His behalf; nor do I know of anyone who has been approached in such a way.

IV. My stay at the institute imbibed me with values and habits that even today guide me on the right path. If I continue to strive to be a better individual and help others in society in ways small or big, the credit goes to the strong foundation of human values laid at the institute by Swami.

V. The previous is based on my personal experience and stay(of minimum one year) at one of Swami’s institutes, namely, at the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School, Puttaparthi or at one of the three campuses of the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (or Sathya Sai University), namely, Puttaparthi, Brindavan and Ananthapur campuses.

Finally, I sign this pledge as a ‘student’ rather than the more appropriate term ‘ex-student’, because in my heart, I am and will always remain a ‘Student of Sathya Sai’.
