Petition to Establish the Saveetha Islamic Society (SIS)
We, the undersigned students of Saveetha University, respectfully request the formation of a student-led organization: the Saveetha Islamic Society (SIS). The purpose of this society is to support Muslim students in fulfilling their religious obligations and to ensure that the campus environment accommodates and respects Islamic practices in accordance with constitutionally guaranteed rights.
The objectives of the Saveetha Islamic Society are:
1. To provide male and female students with dedicated and dignified spaces for the five daily prayers, including the Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer, in coordination with university administration.
2. To advocate for the religious rights of Muslim students, including the right of male students to keep a beard in accordance with Islamic teachings, and the right of female students to wear the hijab and niqab without fear of discrimination, harassment, or academic disadvantage.
By establishing SIS, we aim to ensure that both current and future Muslim students at Saveetha University can fulfill their obligations with peace of mind, dignity, and religious freedom, while contributing positively to the university community.
We humbly seek the administration’s support in formally recognizing the Saveetha Islamic Society and facilitating the accommodations necessary for its goals.

PLEASE ALLOW US TO WEAR HIJAB WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. IT IS OUR RELIGION AND WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FOLLOW IT FREELY IN CAMPUS.
its really hard to find a place to pray during breaks. having a proper space would make college life so much better for all of us
I have gone through many criterios like clear shave on ur daily basis , avoid beard , and so more things happend when i was in clg so im supporting now to be happen again for anyone
For performing my afternoon prayer , I'm traveling a distance of 3.5 km daily to a nearby masjid from college. it will be a huge help if we as muslim students get permission to have a prayer space to perform our afternoon prayers . And beard is a part of islam, establishment of Saveetha islamic society would allow to practice our religion within college campus freely without any fear. Thank you
I am an alumni from Saveetha Engineering College. And I am in support of the petition for SIS.
As a Muslim, i want offer my religions obligations and it's really hard to pray even on Friday in SIMATS , I wish they may consider and accept our request.
