We need a pool big enough for events and meets on the main land!

The legacy of the Canada Games Pool, its original purpose, and its relationship with Lower Mainland citizens, needs to be honoured by current governments, be it City, Provincial, or Federal. This is when clarity of vision for the future of the community is most desperately required. The additional cost over the projected lifetime of the complex will be absolutely negligible, NOBODY 50 years from now will care, or ask what this pool cost, what they will wonder though, if current plans proceed, is why a 50 m length "pseudo-competition" pool is 8 lanes and not TEN. They will shake their heads in wondering how the people in charge of their future could be so short sighted. The cost of the extra two lanes will be trivial in comparison, its only a larger excavation, and the extra width of the two end walls, length is the same. Any estimator who tells you this will seriously impact the project costs should have their work thoroughly reviewed.

Please stop misleading public. How many Hyack swimmers competed at the last Olympic Games? Zero out of 200-250 Hyack's athletes.....poor coaching. According to the current ranking, published here https://www.swimrankings.net/index.php?page=athleteSelect&nationId=0&selectPage=TOP50 there are NO swimmers from Hyack. As we know Hyack doesn't prepare any top athletes, they still successful swimmers from other clubs. This is how they get a high ranking. In regard to the Olympic pool, Hyack uses 3 different pools including CCAC 50m pool in Coquitlam. In spite of this, Hyack didn't prepare any Olympic level athletes. Our club tried to get a space at Canada Game and CCAC pools but because of Hyack we didn't get anything. No matter how many pools Hyack will have, there will be no support to the swimming Community. No support to the unsupportive club.

I don't support Hyack Swim Club because this club never prepared Olympic level athletes. How many athletes from Hyack competed at the last Olympic Game? Zero out of hundreds swimmers (200-250)....poor coaching job. In fact, Hyack stills successful athletes who have been training with other clubs and coaches for years; for instance, Madisen Jacques & Peter Huang joined Hyack couple years ago but trained outside of Hyack several years with other coaches. They are misleading public. No support for the most dishonest club. Current 50 Top athletes https://www.swimrankings.net/index.php?page=athleteSelect&nationId=0&selectPage=TOP50 None from Hyack. It means Hyack didn't prepare any athlete for the next Olympic Game with 3 pools with 25m and 50m pools. It is an evidence that Hyack doesn't need any additional Olympic pool. They use CCAC 50m pool in Coquitlam. Because of Hyack other clubs can't get any space at CCAC. They don't support the swimming Community and no support for them.

From personal experience as a coach and administrator for a competitive swim club, making cuts to competitive swimming space not only puts burden on other pools, but decreases a pool's attractiveness, decreases exposure and participation in competitive aquatic sports, and puts incredible strain on the existing teams that rely on the space. Hyack has been instrumental to the development of high performance athletes for decades and deserves facilities that match their contributions to the New Westminster and greater community.

Come on City Council, no time to go cheap on a facility built for at least 50 years!

I support a 10 lane pool

The Lower Mainland needs to be able to host their own regional/provincial meets in our own neighbourhoods. Just like we have always done before. Swimming as a sport is already expensive enough for those that choose to participate in the sport.

Canada Games Pool should have 10 lanes for large future swim meets....and to meet needs of the public.

As a tax payer in the City of New Westminster I believe 10 lanes should be built in the new pool. Both my wife and me use the pool on a regular basis and the lanes are full on a regular basis when we go swimming. With the explosion in population it only makes sense. Plus to have competion swimming

Pools are tight all over the city, let’s NOT make the same mistake! Build a big pool and let kids who like to swim have a place to go! It will make no difference to the final price if the pool is 8 or 10 lanes! Make it 12 and have the best pool in the lower mainland!!

For the number of aquatic athletes in BC, we already have too few competitive, regulation pools. We need to continue to support and grow this sport by making the right decisions. We need the Hyack Pool for all our swimmers. Mom of a CDSC swimmer.

The kids should not lose pool for competitive swimming. The council should find some other place to do the same .

Our tax’s need to go to ten lanes.

Build a bigger pool! Not one the same size!
