We shouldn't even be having the discussion about it being 10 lanes - we need the 10 lanes!

I support the petition We need first class facility. Our swimmers deserve better than that

I support the petition and hope that common sense win. We have the same situation on the North Share - decades long squabble over old Harry Jerome pool - this year the council decided to get a green line to 50 m pool if interested read here http://www.nsnews.com/news/50-metre-pool-in-north-van-s-harry-jerome-rec-centre-plans-1.23200453 Good luck!

In a time when we need to promote sportsmanship and competition I can’t believe the community would turn its back on an opportunity to improve. A terrible and short sighted suggestion

It seems very short sighted to exclude current national and international meets by restricting the number of lanes. This will cost much more in the long run than the initial outlay. The incremental cost at start up has to be worth it. The current Canada Games Pool was built as an international facility and it still remains a wonderful facility 45 years later. It was future proofed then, lets continue with the vision of being a swimming force.

A major construction or renovation should consider population grows and economic change. Large scale project should aim leading the market in every aspects for at least 10years to be considered a success. E.g. Having a 8-lane pool does not give any advantage in market not statisfy the growth. Same applies to other areas. Better think it over than regret it. Please reconsider your design!

Build for the future, 10 lanes, 50m pool, multi-use, like UBC Aquatic Center, Vancouver Aquatic Center, Coquitlam Aquatic Center, Nanaimo Aquatic Center, Watermania in Richmond, H2O in Kelowna, Kamloops Canada Games pool, Saanich Commonwealth Pool... all these pools we have travelled to for swim meets and there are no such pools available on the North Shore where we live. Why would council even consider replacing a 50m pool with a smaller pool that is unable to host aquatic events and bring revenue to the area and support the many aquatics groups needing space for programs to encourage healthy living in the community?

Please look at all users types. Our Hyack Swim Club is the main users group. 10 lanes is needed.

10 lanes is really important (but not as important as a good hot tub sauna and steam room!

Give the gymnastics programs room to run, give the swimmers room to swim! We need a proper sized facility! I want my kids to come here and go through these programs too!

The pool should at least be as big as the current one if not bigger to support a growing population in New Westminster.
