I have 3 kids - all competitive swimmers. I'm surprise that such an expensive decisions are made with no consideration of future success of Canadian swimming and collaboration with the local swimming community

The LMR’s lack of long course pools is really quite embarrassing. A 50m pool is more versatile and allows for more swimmers, better meets (you can use a bulk head for short course meets so they run quicker) and you can host larger, and international, meets as they’re all long course.

I Ask New Westminister City council to reconsider their future multi purpose aquatic center design please. Build a center that can host amateur and professional competitive swimming events well into the future. Such a center will foster a healthy competitve spirit and keep those future swimmers active.

Better to spend the money on the pool rather than rehab on swimmers who quit and lose their desire to stay in shape due to parents not affording the travel costs.

We need world class sport in BC. Let's not go part-way with this once in a lifetime New West project. Please support a vision for sporting excellence and build the right pool - our athletes deserve the best opportunities so we can remain nationally and internationally competitive - this happens by design!

The extra cost to add two lanes for the complex budget will be negligible compared to the use it will get in its lifetime. An 10 lane Olympic size pool big enough to qualify to hold world standard competitions will bring longer term revenue in the future.

As a 7 time Ironman competitor I am watching this Canada Games Pool development with grave concern for the youth and future athletes of New West! Community, Provincial and Federal interests all all best served by critical investment in athletic programs focused on community youth! Competitive swimming is an important and foundational activity for this community. Do the right thing NW.

Members of the City Council, it would appear that you are not interested in promoting sports in swimming nor interested in healthy living. Why don't you just tell families with children not to bother living in New West?
