It is common sense to build a pool that can be used for competitive swimming. This not only supports local athletes, but also brings in additional revenue to New West when there are swim meets. This is a no brainer!

Mayor Jonathan Cote said "a modern competition pool isn’t part of the proposed scope of the facility". By throwing 100 mil in for a pool that doesn't meet modern competition standards but target to last for another 50 years? The strategy is quite confusing and self contradictory.

New West is a growing city. They must plan with the immediate and long term future in mind. They also are home to one of the most successful swim teams in the province/country. ..kids are flocking to swim teams since Rio, especially girls (the Penny effect)...

Canada games pools was originally built for competition. Competition and competitive spirt is still very strong in New Westminster especially with the Hyack swim team. Hyacks host high level meets that invite many athletes for other provinces and even American swimmers. If this pool is not built to provide adequate requirements to host these meets. All of this will eventually be lost. Think about the childen who have dreams of being great...

New West has a chance to remain a leader in youth sport- Burnaby is on our heels. We need a 10 lane competitive swim pool that is balanced with the lazy river theme

45 years ago council had the foresight to build a pool for 42,000 residents that has catered for growth to 76,000 residents. The current council has the foresight to reduce the current size and not cater for an expected growth to 100,000 residents to 2040, only 23 years from now. We need a council that caters for our future, not just in a new OCP that allows for growth, but in a growth in the facilities it provides. Build a 10 lane 60m tank that will be able to handle current and future population growth and demand for programming.

The name is Canada Games Pool. Purpose built for high level competiton. The community benefited from the competition base of the facility, and will continue to benefit from an updated competition pool. Keep the legacy going by maintaining the core values of the Canada Games Pool.

My daughter learned how to competitively swim there. She became strong. Swim built her character. She is 32 now, lives in Toronto and participate in competitions to this day. Will other kids be as fortunate?

I am in favor of petition. Please keep a Canada Games Pool as a competitive facility. Population of city are growing. We need more place for swimming.
