This does not serve the competitive swimming efforts of a long standing tradition of Hyack swimming in new west. The swim club has paid in excess of $500,000 towards the costs of CGP. It is unfair to essentially cast them and swimming aside. The annual swim meets generate a huge positive for the local and Pacific Northwest competitive top teams.

I would like to appeal to the city Council to consider redesigning the size and capacity of swimming in order to accommodate 10 lanesx50m for Hyack Club swimmers and a venue for BC’s major swimming event as it was as a Canada games competition. Please preserve the history of CGP.

For the health and wellness of all residents of all ages within the community and surrounding municipalities. A swimming lesson, Special Olympics, competitive swimming/diving and laps for leisure are just some of the vital programs greatly impacted in this decision. A world renowned reputable facility ready for a much needed face lift. Why change the face? Canada Games Pool is one of the only Pools in the lower mainland offering it all. Recreation, Fitness, Leisure and Competition for all ages. Don’t let go of this unique tradition.
