Hope that the legacy of the Canada Games Pool will carry forward to the new Pool. New Westminster needs a pool that will accommodate the community and the Hyack Swim Club. They have trained elite and aspiring Olympians. Please provide them with the 10 lane 50 metre pool they. New Westminster will reap the profits and so will the community.

We recently attended a training camp hosted in Saskatchewan - and the only reason we were in Saskatoon vs. Regina is that Saskatoon has 10-lane pool; Regina does not.

The council of New Westminster need to listen peoples input in this issue. Hyack Club is one of the best in producing top competitive swimmer. The city of NW most support the youth that participate in the sport of swimming.

The 73 pool was a great facility back then. However, 45 years later the pool now needs to be 10 x 50 with an additional warm - up pool (8 x 50 m) for swim meets plus a warm water facility teaching lessons and adult therapy pool (10 x 25 m). Do this right!

50x25 meters is a standard olympic size pool. This is what the city needs to support growing population and satisfy demand for sport facilities. I lived in newWest for 10 years and Canada games pool was always overly busy. The point of having 10 lanes is that you can run the lanes across the pool and have standard 25m lames, 20 of them. It greatly increases capacity if/when needed.

With a growing population the Canada Games Pool needs to be larger not smaller if it is to continue to serve its users.

I grew up as a competitive swimmer and competed for 6 years in the lower mainland. Such a promising city for athletes to develop but without any infastructure to do it.

I believe that New Westminster council should support an expanded vision for swimming in New Westminster. We could be a leading city and set ourselves up to bring more people to New Westminster for swimming. This city has so many possibilities. We need city counsellors and leaders who can envision a future where New Westminster takes the lead and is a dynamic destination city. I expect leadership from my city council. This includes putting New Westminster on the map when it comes to competitive swimming.
