A coastal community like ours has an even bigger responsibility to its residents to be sensible and firm in establishing, enforcing, and revising regulations to keep this town safe, clean, and livable for those that live here as well as the ones that come to play. Saying "no" to developers is not a bad thing!

The out of control building has got to stop. Not only for the flooding issue, but the fact that we are going to experience water shortage as well.

We live on Rocking Horse lane and flooded from Howard creek behind our house like never before. The county NEEDS to clean the creek to save several roads full of homes. Hurricane Ian dropped hundreds of trees in the creek and Milton did the same. PLEASE HELP US!

I live in Sarasota County and am very concerned about the long-term viability of this area due to rampant overdevelopment. County Commissioners are giving exemptions to previous development plans against the advice of environmental experts and outcries from the public. We need comprehensive studies on future climate adaptation measures and enforcement of zoning/building restrictions for Sarasota County if we are to have any chance of long-term survival as residents. What we are doing now feels like someone continuing to smoke after receiving warnings about health hazards and experiencing issues with their lungs.

The very reasonable requests proposed in this petition (initially put out 2+ months ago) should now be no-brainers, two hurricanes later. Residents shouldn't have to beg for the right things, the smart things to be done.. yet here we are. Please, care for those of us who live here, care for the lands in this county, be diligent, make well-informed decisions. Get it together!
