We are very concerned. Please look into ways we can address this issue and prevent further escalation in the future.

Please we need a building moratorium, work on existing drainage and infrastructure then build a comprehensive growth plan with allowance for appropriate greenspace, drainage and no more wetland credits in our area.

The Sarasota County Comprehensive LOS for Stormwater currently states that flooding should not occur to actualy buildings such as homes. The stormwater LOS has been policy since the mid 1990s and also requires that developments retain what naturally would be retained in 100 year storm event on the property so it does not flood downstream. The County property owners pay a premium each year for the Stormwater Utility which is supposed to maintain the Stormwater LOS for County drainage ways and to prevent flooding of homes and commercial etc. Obviously it has failed. If the County has not plans to bring itself in compliance than it is basically racketeering since it is business that cannot provide the product but which forces the public to pay or lose their property. The County Stormwater Utility knows it has deficits now from two floods in the same year. It knows the system does not work. And it knows if there was storm surge there would have been much more flooding of structures. It has a legal obligation as a business to provide this basic stormwater LOS standard.

To quote another hapless government official, "Heck of a job." This is an obvious and essential role for city officials and they continue to blow it.

People here for over 50 years lost their homes, and had never before experienced anything like this. A pause in land use changes and the studies proposed here would definitely be in order at this point.

Past time; too much of the impact fees on housing has been abated. Developers need to fix all of this.

Let's focus on solutions. Which candidates are rational and have plans for sustainable living and land preservation which allows wetlands to do their work and help us avoid flooding?

Please stop the development before we all wash away. No approvals of change in Comp plan to allow large hotels on Siesta.
