Debby Sarasota County Petition

Our home flooded…approximately 10 inches of water. We don’t live in a flood zone and did not have flood insurance.

We should have been given even atleast 10 minutes of time to get our valuables out of flood waters coming in. With todays technology - we could have been given phone alerts atleast!

Keep our area safe!

Development only through wholistic understanding of the impact to our community and the environment. "Sustainable Development"

Please halt further development until substantial studies have been performed evaluating the effects of development on flooding of surrounding, and downstream, land.

I respectfully ask the Sarasota County Commission to take this life-or-death matter seriously. Do the right thing for the constituents who elect and depend on you to do so.

This must be a priority!

Please, please put the needs of the people who are already here over the desires of the developers, who are long gone when flooding disasters happen!! If we can't figure out why we had such horrible flooding and what we should do to prevent (!) it, then we shouldn't be building massive new developments!!!

We need to have leaders who plan beyond the next election cycle, making decisions for the long term good of our county.

Shameful overdevelopment- please do what’s right

My property has flooded twice this year… within 10’ of my house- which has never happened in the past 20 years! The swale that goes behind my property and down the west side of the lot is perpetually blocked with debris! We need to find a better way to manage storm waters!

I am requesting that the hydrology study, land use pause, and wastewater spillage and prevention plan be initiated now.

Please protect out county from Flooding and keep our floodplains from being developed. Maintain and check for leaks in the dykes that prevent flooding.

I wholeheartedly concur with the above demands and will send my letter to the county commissioners immediately following the election so the new commissioners will see it.

How about a moratorium on new construction until this issue is understood and resolved?

I agree with all parts of this and have emailed the commissioners

We need the Commision to act according to the wishes of the Community that elects them NOT the developers.

Development is out of control and ruining our city. Change is inevitable, but this rate of development is crazy and damaging.

I concur with all proposals in the Petition.
