The uncontrolled and overdevelopment is irresponsible . Stop looking at the profits and kickbacks from developers and businesses, You have a moral obligation to the environment, wildlife and residents. They all come first.

It is past time to think about the kind of place you want Sarasota to be, a welcoming beautiful place that provides trees and habitat for the wildlife that brings so many here, a place where people can live without fear of flooding because of over development, you are leaving a legacy and you better think hard about what it will be.. at this time this is not a place to be proud of, it is quickly becoming more ugly every day as each new development throws up more concrete and Sarasota becomes less and less inviting. It’s losing its character and its charm quickly thanks to the choices you’re making.

As a resident of Sarasota County, I implore those in a position to aid the citizens of this county to do a full study of what caused this flooding and to take steps to insure that it does not happen again. What happened in the Laurel Meadows neighborhood was not the result of natural causes and it is the responsibility of the County to get to the bottom of it.

Like many hundreds of my neighbors, Debby was a nightmare this petition is extremely articulate in giving voice to legitimate concerns. I hope the requested actions are undertaken.
Thank you

We ask that you impose a moratorium on any new building in our area until you study how floods like Debbie can be prevented.

It needs to be understood, without delay, why a non-flood zone area flooded devastatingly in a tropical storm, and what we need to expect for this and other areas of the county in future tropical storms and hurricanes.

It is time to freeze further impact activities, assess the effect and figure out a plan to avoid the next catastrophe. If Sarasota has taken "Climate Change" out of all its documents and development activities, it is time to put it back....Climate has and will continue to change!

The BCC ignores all ordinances and votes opposite of the laws. The BCC should be culpable for damage caused by their approvals.

I have 4” of sewage water in my home from Debby. A manhole in my driveway. A neighbor that swears this was all a sewage problem. That in 35 years it hasn’t flood like this in 34, and that was a category 4. 3.5 millions of gallons of sewage. This cannot happen again!

How can the Sarasota Board of County Commissioners continue approving these massive developments without protecting their constituents rights? it is unconscionable. Commissioners PLEASE....do the job you were elected to do and protect our property and our ability to enjoy it. The items enumerated in this petition need to be addressed. The photo accompanying the Petition tells it all!! Whether you realize it or not, you are turning conservatives against you.

Please stop building permits until flooding issues have been addresses. This day was coming and now it is here. Please protect our current communities and think about how you would feel if this flooding has affected your home. Please do the right thing.
