no more development without proper drainage studies. Stay away from watersheds. Make all developers responsible for digging out swales that have filled with sediments due to runoff from their projects.

Siesta Key resident NOT on water and living in a house with a disabled husband for over 23 Years. Flooded three times in this last year inside and out. Continue to contact and talk to the county storm water department as high up as possible about their issues - not cleaning drains, not dredging ditches, allowing storm water to run off new building construction that diverts water to low lying structures. It's like banging your head against a concrete wall. County NEEDS to address drainage, fix infrastructure and consider where water flows to if they continue to give permits to builders and developers that fill the lots to build higher lying structures and erode wetlands. Water flows down, concrete does not absorb water but the county only seems to be concerned with property tax dollars and how many more people we can pack into x amount of square feet.

Please see the previous comment written by my mother Tereza Russo where she stated how Sarasota County caused the destruction of our previous home by FLOODING our property continuously for 34 years. (She will continue here): I stated that when Tatum Rd. was Widened, Paved and Elevated Sarasota County NEVER Replaced the Storm Water Flooding Runoff Conveyance Systems on Tatum Rd. Therefore, in the news where Spencer Anderson and other Sarasota County representatives have stated that they are following stringent South West Florida Water Management Regulations for FLOODING in Sarasota that has just been proven not to be the truth. The State of Florida had to send a representative to my home in Sarasota because I was informed that there was not anyone overseeing it here in Sarasota when the representative was sent. It took 34 years of FLOODING and destruction before I was able to contact the State of Florida who sent a representative that could see the negligence right away. He pointed out on Maps where the original Stormwater Drainage Conveyance Systems are shown that have been covered over when Tatum Road was widened, paved and elevated. (Please see previous comment for details) In addition, when Sarasota County Widened, Paved and Elevated Tatum Road I was out of town due to my father, who had passed away. Upon returning, I was told by Mr. Campbell Who owned Orange Groves across the street that Sarasota County had moved the road to the west, and laid it over ( 56 ) feet of the frontage of my property. He said they took the path of less resistance instead of having to cut other trees on the other side of the road where the easement was. I have no easements or right away on my property. It is grandfathered in. I was never notified and was never compensated for my property. Sarasota County broke the law. The county refused to issue sandbags the day before Debby arrived. It also failed to open a shelter until the Wednesday after the storm, despite people being boatlifted from their flooded homes. There was no public channel of communication where we could get updates and it could hear from people in trouble. And the greatest negligence? The Board failing to even own all of this. And now it will address, possibly to approve, Pat Neal's huge 3H Ranch. The people are not its constituency.

I have lived at 516 Tatum Rd. Sarasota, Florida for 47 years, which is five minutes from the Laurel Meadows development that has been destroyed with flooding. (I do not believe the major flooding at Laurel Meadows was caused because of the amount of rain we received in Sarasota). If it was from the amount of rain, my property would have flooded also. I have 8 1/2 x 11 photos and over 100 pages of documentation Regarding the flooding that has been caused on my property!! Please read the following information regarding my home, destroyed by flooding here, and Never addressed by Sarasota County! My first home was destroyed here in 2008 with flooding because Sarasota County Road construction regulations regarding stormwater runoff flooding and replacing stormwater conveyance systems culverts were ignored and not enforced When Tatum Rd. was widened, paved and elevated. Sarasota County covered over the stormwater drainage, conveyance systems on both the east and west sides of the road for 3/4 of the road from Rim Rd. heading north to Fruitville Road! Any remaining culverts at the north end of Tatum Road are not draining and have not been maintained in over 20 years. Most of them are broken or buried under the ground. Sarasota County never replaced the drainage conveyance systems which has caused continued flooding of my property and some of the other neighbors. This has been continued flooding for over 34 years. I have Maps from the state of Florida, showing the original drainage, conveyance systems that are now covered over by the paved road that have never been replaced. Sarasota County broke the law when they did not replace the Stormwater runoff drainage conveyance culverts. The Department of Environmental Protection has also verified that Sarasota County did not apply for the ERP permit when they Widened, paved, and elevated Tatum Road. We experienced heavy and costly damages to our guesthouse on our Saddle Creek property. This list will give you an idea. We had no insurance and no warning! The entire building was under 2.5 feet of water for several days. Entire bottom floor, 2 cases of bamboo wooden flooring, all walls (up to 4' off ground), electric, washer, dryer, hot water heater, water filtration system, AC unit, water pump, shower, entire bathroom vanity with mirror, wall unit with desk, bookshelf, dresser, curio cabinet, all appliances, furniture, five wood doors and door hardware, full size leather couch with electronic controls, part of staircase, repainting, flooring in living area, golf cart lithium battery charger, approximately 45 one-of-a-kind handmade Christmas ornaments, Entire house is being de-humidified by remediation company, approximately 40 ft. of wooden walkway, 66 sandbags to keep water out of additional house, outdoor lighting on wooden walkway, landscaping, blankets, vacuum cleaner, two large mirrors, golf bag, front gate control system, two front gate openers, patio screening, septic alarm, water damage to French wooden doors and kitchen door, Extensive property cleanup.

Public servants especially need to be conservative in planning for future water management. In this case, conservative means looking forward at rain projections, rather than historic data that says our every other year rainfalls are each hundred year events.

Sarasota is being covered in concrete. The old growth trees and ground cover that prevent flooding are gone. Previously stable areas now flood.

Thank you. There needs to be accountability from all involved at the county-level to re-examine and redo water runoff and planning requirements as the storms and rainfall have only intensified - and will continue to do so. To do less than that is to be irresponsible and negligent in one’s duties to this community.

My garage flooded3 inch ... never before ... lost lots of stuff. We must stop all the building Iys only going to get worst.... Need to initiate a new plan and solve this problem Thanks
