Florida has a unique ecosystem that deserves and demands respect. The more trees that are cut down and replaced with concrete and developments, the less we have to absorb the water. Our water systems are vulnerable and our homes become a hotbed of disease and molds. Make it a priority to protect our existing homes and make sure our infrastructure can support the growth. We deserve safety!

This study needs to be completed ASAP, not some time in the future. Our commissioners need to listen to the people who live here, to care for our wildlife and to protect our future of this beautiful paradise we live in. I believe the commissioners have been extremely short sighted as it relates to building on low lying areas. It’s baffling to me all the building around the celery fields. An area meant for flood control. Residents will be the recipients of higher insurance premiums. Why isn’t the county doing everything possible to protect what’s left of undeveloped land…

I have lived in Sarasota for over 60 years, mostly in Hidden River, watched the 2050 plan being ignored and cannot believe that 3H ranch zoning is looked at while existing residents are unable to live in their homes. Jon Thaxton showed how much of the county has been destroyed. Look at the city skyline.
