As a concerned citizen who is deeply troubled by the ongoing environmental degradation and social instability caused by illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as galamsey. Despite the numerous efforts of your administration to curb this menace, it is apparent that the problem continues to persist at an alarming rate, destroying our environment, polluting our water bodies, and threatening the livelihoods of millions of Ghanaians.

The reality of the situation is grim. Ghana's forests and rivers, which once supported life, are being decimated. The once-clear waters of the Pra, Birim, and Ankobra rivers are now muddy, toxic, and undrinkable. Our rich biodiversity is rapidly being lost, and our agricultural lands, which are vital for food security, are being destroyed.

Given the current state of affairs, I strongly believe it is time to take drastic and immediate action. I propose that your Excellency consider the revocation of all small-scale, large-scale mining licenses, as well as prospecting licenses across the country.

I spent the entire morning looking at satellite maps of what used to be our family cocoa farm and it is heartbreaking to see the excavators still digging. The stories you are sending me about poisoned wells in your own villages confirm that this is not just an environmental issue but a direct threat to our very survival. I am currently compiling your accounts to present to the relevant ministries because silence at this stage is becoming impossible.

Seeing this level of support gives me real hope that my children might eventually see our rivers run clear again. Your dedication to protecting our land proves that we are not alone in this fight.

Small scale and illegal gold mining, known locally as "galamsey", are rampant in Ghana and has polluted more than 60% of Water bodies in Ghana leading to death, land degradation, poison rivers etc. A total BAN on all small scale mining will have Ghanaians from dying.
