Let us distinguish clearly between sex and gender and allow open discussion of the issues that this distinction raises, especially for transgender people in both personal and social areas of their lives.

It is deeply worrying when organisations demand that women accept anti-science dogma, based on the feelings of men, refuse debate and then demonise anyone who asks questions or raises concerns. This is not how democracy works and it is clear that there is suppression of women's concerns by the Media and that virtually no MP's have anything to say on the matter, except for the one's who chant the 'trans women are women' creed. Women must be able to define themselves, protect their boundaries and not be labled 'terf' as a way to silence and bully them. Stonewall is a charity and as such, should be open to discussion about it's position.

Stonewall were never the leaders they thought they were, never grassroots, always top heavy. Look how easy it was to turn them away from supporting lesbian and gay men. Rotten org. Need a complete overhaul. Or could just disband. Oh, horrors! Lots of lifestyles need funding so that won't happen.

Gender identity has absolutely nothing in common with sexual orientation and Stonewall's cynical conflation of the two is all about funding and nothing at all to do with justice.

The rights of women and girls to safe spaces is very important, and hard-won rights are very important to maintain in a fast-changing environment of identity awareness, identification and gender politics.

Biological women are less violent, and more vulnerable than men.
Violently suppressing debate proves that point.

It seems self-evident that everyone in a democratic society should have equal rights although nobody’s rights should be won by the significant and dangerous erosion (and possible erasure) of another group. Honest, open discussion is vital in reaching this although the default position of an aggressive, vocal majority of the pro-trans lobby seems to be to simply avoid all discussion by dismissing it as transphobic. Intolerant silencing of opposing opinions is the very definition of bigotry, which is surely as far from the Stonewall's founding principles as possible.

The silencing of women around this debate is terrifying. I am all for the equal rights of trans people, I have a trans child in my family. But that does not mean allowing anyone who says they are that gender to be that gender without any genuine transition or attempt to live in that gender. True transpeople won't do that, but this opens self-id to an unthinkable amount of abuse, with huge potential damage to perceptions of the genuine trans community. The consequences are endless, from victims of rapists being forced to call their male-bodied attacker "she" in court despite having very clearly been attacked with their male penis and male strength before they identified as female - a violation all over again - to the skewering of the key statistics on which policies designed to protect women are based. Women should be allowed to discuss such questions, without being called terfs, terrorists, extremists, bigots, or any of the other insults I have seen piled upon anyone who dares dissent. This is a fundamental redefinition of gender, it does not just affect the transgender community and is not for one group of society to decide something that affects us all so deeply. This morning I have seen Julie Bindel called an "enemy of the United Kingdom and a traitor" by a transactivist for speaking her mind. I ask Stonewall to reconsider its stance on transactivism and this debate around self identification to stop encouraging the demonisation of those who simply want to have an open discussion around one of the most important issues of our age, and to consider the impact that this is having on women and girls, including the lesbian community.

"Transwomen" are just preverts who want to access women's spaces to abuse women.
Stonewall should stop pretending otherwize.

Stonewall is now Trans Central where there are no more gays and lesbians because Stonewall thinks gay men have vaginas and lesbians have penises. Stonewall needs a complete change of management and Ruth Hunt needs to go.

We are asking for the possibility of respectful debate and for a negotiation that gives recognition to everyone's needs. I don't think language or sentiments like this are in any way helpful to that end.
