There is no reason to think that the current toxic trans rights ideology that stonewall has uncritically adopted is the only way to advocate for rights and dignity for trans people. Let's do better.

It is perfectly possible to support trans rights AND support the sex-based rights and protections of women and girls. Stonewall however are not doing this. Their ideology and policies push the idea that boys and girls, and men and women, who reject rigid gender "norms" must be "trans", that boys who like dresses are actually girls, that gurus who like trucks and trousers, and like girls, must therefore be boys. That gender nonconforming children should be put in a path to lifetime medicalisation. That safeguarding of female children should be thrown out eg in GirlGuides to accommodate confused male children and without consideration of potential enabling of predatory adult males. Ditto in prisons, rape shelters and refuges - vulnerabke women must make way for makes who think they are women, or even just say they think they are women. Lesbians are branded hateful for being same sex attracted! Women's awards, shortlists and opportunities - intended to redress sex inequality - are being handed to makes who think/say that they are women. This is not progressive liberalism. It is rainbow Thatcherusm. It is anti-feminist, homophobic and lesbophobia. Transing children is abhorrent and morally inexcusable. Stonewall funding is obviously coming from seriously malign forces, who seem to have deliberately infiltrated the LGB movement with the aim of undermining everything, absolutely everything, the movement stood for.

Needs a proper debate

"woman" is not a gender identity to be adopted by any man that wants it, it's a biological reality, protected in law. To claim that people who want to uphold the laws that protect women from males are "transphobic" shows just how irrational, narcissistic and dangerous this debate has become. Mens rights have taken absolute presidence over women and children's safety, and children encouraged into a cult indoctrination of believing that they could have been born in the wrong body, signalled by the toys they choose to play with, or activities they enjoy doing. It sickens me that a charity such as stonewall has embraced this ideology with so much gusto, and no critical thought for the young homosexuals (gender non conforming) that this dogma will affect, leading them to believe that bodily mutilation, lifelong drug use, sexual disfunction and sterility is necessary. The damage being done to the objective reality of so many people in order to promote the subjective pedagogical beliefs of a few is completely crushing.

gender is a social construct which supports misogyny and gender stereotypes.

As a lesbian I don't get how esp Stonewall could even think, there could be more "rights" for anyone at the expense of women rights, women lives, lesbians. We fought too long too much to be erased now.

It is time to acknowledge that your unqualified support for the trans agenda is being accomplished by ignoring your gay and lesbian constituents and throwing all women and girls under the bus.

I TOTALLY agree about the undermining of women's sex-based rights.and protections. Can hardly fathom Stonewall has become this divisive towards women.

The demonising of debate on the issues of gender recognition and women's rights as 'transphobia' has to end, and Stonewall should take a clear lead on this. Instead they have, to date, pandered to the trans-lobby.

Trans women are women - but predatory men will use self ID to gain opportunities to hurt both cis and trans women. It is also deeply troubling that cis women are now being attacked for making references to basic biology eg. banning of t-shirt showing ovaries with slogan "grow a pair"

Rachel Dolezal is a white American woman who "identifies" as black. As a result of this "cultural appropriation and fraud" there was global outrage, and she was dismissed from her position as an Instructor in Africana Studies at Eastern Washington University and removed by the Spokane City Council as Chair of the Police Ombudsman Commission. And yet a man "identifies" as a woman, and we are collectively told that to so much as seek to discuss this, to question this - or even to encourage further research into gender dysphoria - makes us "transphobes" and "bigots". Why? The double standard, and the political climate that has created it, is terrifying. To deny biology is to be a flat-earther. We are not "assigned" a sex at birth - we are born with a biologically male or female body. Male and female bodies exist. To "identify" as the opposite gender does not and cannot change this biological fact. Women, who are biologically female through no process of "identification" but simply by birth, must be allowed to request and maintain spaces that are only for the female-bodied, and they must be allowed to make their concerns heard. To be transgender is not to be a natal woman, nor a lesbian - it is its own very specific state, which comes with its own extremely specific struggles. The rights of transgender people - as of all people - need respecting and protecting. But these are NOT women's rights - and women should not be ignored or abused for asking that their rights be kept separate and respected as innate to the female-bodied. Stonewall's slogan is "acceptance without exclusion". Acceptance... of what? Women's rights? Dissenting opinions? Without exclusion... of what? A disturbed predatory male who falsely claims to be trans in order to offend more easily? Gay men who cannot accept or pretend that they must be attracted to a transman who retains a vagina and breasts? Angry, confused, aggressive, nonsensical. To what a sad place this once-noble or

"The denial of biological sex within Stonewall's transgender policies in the age of #metoo, fails to acknowledge the structural oppression of women and denies us the right to organise as a sex based class. I fully support the rights of trans people to equality and to live free from violence and discrimination. Silencing people and labelling them as transphobic because they wish to debate these issues is not the answer. It saddens me that I feel the need to remain anonymous in this current climate."

There are a great many misogynistic issues with redefining 'woman' to mean a subjective 'gender identity'. It's unintelligible to have the view that biology has not and still does not play a part in sexism. Now to be progressive females are called such dehumanising names as 'bleeders', 'birthers' etc. It also attaches an importance on many gender stereotypes which are harmful to women. It's also damaging to people who are homosexuals as it says that sex is a social construct and so reduces sexuality to a 'genital preference'. There are a great many further issues which can't be detailed here.

This policy needs far more honest debate than has so far happened.
