Stonewall is a charity for sexuality. Gender is a construct. We should be teaching children to be proud of their healthy working bodies and that can be whoever they want to be. There's no shame in effeminate men or butch women. Trans people are our allies but our biologies are different and so we have different needs.

The fight today is not the same "phobia" experienced by those fighting for gay and lesbian liberation in the 1980s. That was not a competing rights issue. Denying that it is today is at best ill-thought out and at worst, actively undermining the LGB rights that you were so instrumental in securing. I urge you to reconsider your position.

Our society needs to help trans people live happy lives and Stonewall should champion this but NOT at the cost of womens rights and NOT at the cost of the truth of women's physical reality

I wish I was brave enough to include my name. So depressing that we can't address profound concerns like how to retain refuges as safe spaces. I am sure that the desire is for a more tolerant and inclusive society, so it seems so crazy that the answer is to shut down all discussion in such an intolerant, illiberal and apparently anti-woman way.

Dear Stonewall This backlash against you gives me great hope for the future. Once upon a time you were an organisation that fought ferociously for human rights and dignity. Now, at the ruthless expense of women and children, you have become a reactionary organisation that brooks no dissent from your own rigid orthodoxies. It is time the paucity of your methodologies and suicide statistics that blindside young people, their parents and teachers are exposed to sociological scrutiny.

Please think harder about this Stonewall. It is not 'transphobic' to believe that there are biological women and that they share particular needs and risks.

I agree, women make up over half the population. The rights of the few should not be put above the rights of the many.

Just another form of discrimination to cope with. As if we didn’t have enough already. And also if I’m not a woman, can’t call myself that, then what am I?

We need to have an open talk through this, so that everyone can get the best outcome

Women have been discriminated against for centuries. Just as they're aiming for parity with men, their status and safety are once again being attacked and undermined. Trans rights should be respected but so should those of women and girls.

We need to be able to debate this issue openly

Quite apart from this being a very real threat to the safety of women and girls, we can say 'goodbye' to female sports if this amendment goes through.

Stonewall has a proud history of standing up for, and protecting gay rights. I do not see why Stonewall campaigns for trans rights, which is a fight by the elites. Gay rights by contrast was a hard won battle. Trans campaign to self identify without any need for objective scrutiny is a threat to both women and children.

I do not understand why trans people do not want to be authentically trans, neither proud nor ashamed, but just getting on with their lives; why they demand that 52% of the population has to relabel themselves, give up their dignity, privacy and safety? Why children, esp autistic children are being indoctrinated, why 100% of the population has to validate and affirm trans people by denying reality? Follow the money to Stonewall's backers, I guess...there's a whole new trans industry out there and our children are the new consumers. Shame on you, Stonewall.

Come on Stonewall - you're starting to lose your credibility here with the gen public. Stop with your aggressive shut down of women's discussions and opinions. Your own supporters are abandoning you. Stop supporting the TRA bullies. Self ID cannot happen. Stop putting the rights of a minority group over 51% of the population.

How can seeking an understanding of differing viewpoints on this topic ever be a bad thing?

Enough of the subjugation of all women. Lesbians in particular.

All we want is an open discussion and the right to have our views heard without being called transphobic. As a mother I am very concerned that Stonewall are wiping out women's rights without discussion. Nobody I know wants trans (mtf) people to not have rights but this should not be at the expense of women and girls. Women must be allowed to have single sex places, such as women's refuges and rape/abuse centers. Women who have suffered need places where they can receive help and that is more important than trans mtf feelings. Self ID is very worrying and open to abuse by men who want to abuse women and children. Please can we discuss this without the violence and abuse from trans "activists". People are scared to speak out, and frightened for their families, this is not a society that is inclusive.
