Transgender women were born and raised as males and it shows in their violent attitude to women

The silencing is getting really frightening. I have nothing against trans people and have close trans friends. But biology is real and while I'm happy to ignore it in 90% of cases, there are occasional instances in which it matters whether someone has a penis. People have to be allowed to say this without being called transphobic. It doesn't just matter in practical terms, it matters for people's sense of self. We have to be allowed to acknowledge the existence of physical reality. What you have done has devalued the term "transphobic", and brought about a climate of fear in which people are whispering in corners because they are too frightened to speak openly. It will ultimately hurt trans people themselves. Please, please reconsider what you are doing

Genuine trans (i.e. Certified) OK, but self-id is too open to abuse

Just signing this petition I’m worried about the repurcussions and being attacked for expressing an opinion. Online debate has been stifled completely on this subject to such a degree that any dissenting voices are silent, and I refuse to accept that this would be necessary if society agreed unanimously on these issues already.

Thank you for the clear information you have provided about this issue. I agree wholeheartedly with your approach. I sincerely hope that Stonewall can change its stance and acknowledge other people's concernswithout brandishing them as transphobic

I hope it is not too late for Stonewall to acknowledge its mistakes and change its stance

This is asking for such a rational and overdue dialogue. Please listen.

Proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act will ride roughshod over the rights of people who are born as women and may put such women in danger. Stonewall needs to recognise these points.

Please reconsider your position, women have genuine concerns and the current climate means that the subject cannot be discussed with accusations of bigot or transphobe being thrown around.

Stonewall no longer represents me. Any public funding should be rescinded. Ruth Hunt in particular, should resign. The whole organisation needs to rethink its approach, and who it it supposed to represent.

Lesbian viewpoints deserve to be dignified with attentiveness from an organization that is supposedly attuned to their interests and safety. So far, from Stonewall, lesbians have received nothing short of abandonment, in favor of an ideology that holds such sway that to question it puts one in danger of losing one’s livelihood, or worse, danger of physical assault. It is shameful that Stonewall blindly accepts a movement’s ideology that negates the very basis upon which Stonewall, itself, was formed: the existence of homosexual individuals as a natural occurrence, AND that these individuals deserve protections.

Women’s rights matter!

"Trans women are women" doesn't really mean anything. It can't mean "trans women (i.e. male-bodied people) are the same as women (i.e. female people) because that would be silly. Perhaps it means "trans women have women's brains" which is, well, a hypothesis that people are welcome to believe, but no more than that. In use, however, it really means "Shut up, woman, you don't know what you're talking about" -that is - it is not permitted to disagree with the concept that the determinant of womanhood is not biological sex, but some metaphysical entity called "gender". People who disagree with this point, like me, have been physically threatened, doxxed and reported to the police. This is profoundly damaging not only to women's rights, but to the culture of debate in this society.

Very concerned for the legal issues moving forward, and desperately want to protect our safe spaces and rights!!

It appears that Stonewall is for GBT everything except lesbians and women. Having an opinion is one thing, trying to silence other's opinions is inexcusable. Will Stonewall be burning books next? Please moderate your language and try listening

I feel betrayed. Stonewall -please read the petition and, as Quakers say, 'think that you may be mistaken'.

Common sense please. I want to be assured that my daughters are changing in a safe space. That if they work hard their accolades won't be robbed from them. They've be brought up to love, respect and celebrate our differences not to pretend they don't exist. I am a woman not a cis woman, I am a woman, not just someone with a cervix. Working in media this is the first time I've felt able to express these thoughts for fear of being shot down. Reassured by the diversity of those founding signatures.

Your definition of transgender is now so wide I am fearful for the future safety of my daughters
