Hurt feelings should not be prioritised over people actually being hurt ie ideology must not trump reality. A penis has no place in a woman/lesbian space!

Just an ordinary mum with a daughter who loves sport. Sport needs to be divided by sex not gender if competition is to be realistic. Yet I am starting to understand that there is to be no debate, that I am a TERF and that my views constitute "hate speech". I do not understand what this is all about. At what point did Stonewall become a monster rather than a champion of democracy and equality.

Let’s smash gender instead of reinforcing it even more rigidly, as transgender ideology does. Women must have spaces for women. Females. Period.

People can express themselves to any degree of masculinity or feminity or neutrality as they wish. However, you cannot change your biological sex.

Gender, as the dictionary states, is the state of being female or male. We can not appropriate ‘Gender’ to suit our own agenda as we cannot appropriate our sex to suit an illusion. Biology is the basis for life on the planet. By denying biology and its social reality/ state (gender) we are attempting to make the human body a commodity. Treating the human body as a commodity will have insufferable consequences for the human race, including the trans identified individuals. The acceptance of ‘trans- gender’ (the attempt to gender self identify) seeks to remedy deeper health issues with short term, ineffective and superficial ‘solutions’ causing long term harm sociologically to children, women, men and those seeking a false, externally validated identity.

As a feminist I've spent my life challenging gender stereotypes as well as the pseudoscience that is used to justify the oppression of people with my biology. Please recognise my right to do this without being labelled a bigot.

I fully support the rights of all people to identify as they choose. However, to enshrine ‘choice’ as a legal equivalent is to deny legal rights to those of us who still do not have equality in society, despite having the equality in law. I think that debate is shut down when it is feared. I feel I am very, very far from transphobic, but this isn’t a case of “for or against” - it’s far more complex.

Absolutely support this: it's damaging relations by forcing definitions and behaviours on to people instead of fostering discussion; creating enmity instead of unity; and promoting differences rather than solidarity - to the extent it's further eroding 'cis' (because we have to have a label now) women's rights. We have enough patriarchal systems doing that already, thanks!

I've supported you and marched with you in the past. This isn't a quick decision.

Stonewall is disrespecting lesbians by refusing to open up this debate

Stonewall is coming across as so hostile to gay/bisexual (female) women at the moment. Please listen to women.

Stonewall have thrown Lesbians under the bus in the quest for trans-popularity. They seem to have utterly lost the plot.

Thank you very much. I personally, as a lesbian feminist who fought throughout the 1970s and 1980s for LGBT rights, feel under attack from the militant element in the trans community. They are enjoying many of the rights women like me fought for.

This peptition is important as we need to have the possibility to debate and dicsuss the many and very real issues arising for lesbians, gay men and trans people as a consequence of the 'gender recognition' consulatation.
