"Gender identity" as proposed by Stonewall and others, is a dangerous piece of fantasy, unrelated to biological fact. It will cause more misery than happiness.

The ideology of transgender identity (where gender dysphoria is not present) is directly opposed to homosexual identity and indeed comes across as deeply homophobic. Stonewall needs to do better by its gay and lesbian members as it is currently treating them very poorly.

There has to be debate. These proposals mean an effective end to those (very limited) female-based spaces and opportunities that women have had to struggle for. In practice, all female spaces will become mixed sex. No one (private businesses, publicly funded organizations and venues) will be willing to police, manage or adjudicate whether male-bodied persons have a right to occupy any space or opportunity previously dedicated to women. No employee (usually low-paid), no manager nor business will want to make a 'mistake' by challenging anyone and then face the consequences of vilification and legal threats by Trans Rights Activists. So women who absolutely depend on female-only spaces (religious minorities, those many thousands of women traumatized by sexual assault) or who need the ‘breathing space’ female-only spaces provide (girls at school, young women in clubs/pubs, many/most women just going about their daily lives!) will be excluded or feel so uncertain/uncomfortable that participation in everyday life becomes even more restricted ( adding yet more to all the ‘don’ts and watch-outs' women now live with). There will also be incredible demoralization of women who (only for one generation) have felt that their participation in sport, in politics, in attempting to excel in any field has been facilitated by ‘women-only’ opportunities. It is not just the abusers we fear; it is the fact that women-only spaces and opportunities will disappear. We know that Stonewall has always wanted to exclude ‘single-sex exemptions’; it is women who have been protected or encouraged by these exemptions.
I consider myself a trans-ally, supporting equal rights for transgender people and also opposing discrimination against gender non-conforming people. And yes, we know that some trans women have been using women’s toilets and changing rooms for years – usually comfortably and with mutual respect. These proposals and the new 'discourse' put them at risk as well. Stonewall

I'm extremely concerned about the assault on women's rights and protections as a sex class, and the distortion campaign being waged to mislead the public about what's really going on. We need to publicly discuss these important issues, instead of shouting down valid concerns as bigoted and ignorant.

The shutting down of dissent and debate is is concerning. A proposed legal change should include all affect parties in a respectful debate.

I am not transphobic, I object to the term "terf" - GRA has many concerns for women. Stonewall are misogynists, and have shown themselves in their true colours.

Women matter Stonewall, very much. Please don’t support an agenda that will make women vulnerable. We want equality and respect for all walks of life but this should never come at the expense of others.

These changes are being discussed without the knowledge of the majority of the population. Those women who are aware of the proposals and want to discuss them are being abused and threatened. This has to stop. The proposed changes will have a significant impact on women's lives and we have the right to have our say.

I have been extremely dismayed to read about the abuse and bullying being directed at lesbian women. I would have expected to Stonewall to support the rights and safety of gay women and feel that they have taken an enitirely wrong turn in their uncritical support for self-identification.

However great the work Stonewall is doing, this move does not make sense in an effort to be inclusive to all genders. It is an anti lesbian policy which in my view seeks to denigrate lesbian women in favour of Stonewall being viewed as all embracing. I am not gay, but from a common sense point of view when I read about the arguments in the news, my sympathies came down firmly with the anti Stonewall community, according to the lesbian community’s definition of who they intrinsically are.

A person is born with the genitalia of one sex or the other. A person with female body parts will always be vulnerable to a person with male body parts. There is no equivalent position the other way round.
Until the early 20th century a man who was more in tune with womens' attitudes and interests, or vice versa, simply 'got on with life' albeit sometimes very unhappily. Such things were private. Now it seems everyone's every thought must be shouted to the world and each person believes his/her ideas to be the absolute truth.
Allowing a man simply to state he is a woman,or vice versa , and then to be allowed into private female space, is ridiculous. Has Stonewall never heard of sexual harassment or rape?
I thought Stonewall was set up to protect the rights of single dads. Great! Who could disagree. Clearly some people with the loudest voices have taken over, with some crazy ideas.

Stonewall have made a grave error in their approach to trans rights. The umbrella for trans has gone way beyond what people's understanding of trans people to be and makes a mockery of the trans women/men are women/men when their own definition includes cross dressers and fetishists. Women and girls need to be protected, in our own spaces and in the definition of our biological sex.

Please campaign based on evidence and facts rather than extremely aggressive scare tactics. Stopping women from meeting through physical violence is NEVER ok and Stonewall should make crystal clear it does not and never will support these tactics and actions.
