I am a young queer lesbian and I support trans rights. However, Stonewall does not speak for me and actively erases and devalues lesbian identities, despite what Ruth Hunt claims. Stonewall's definition of "homosexual" as "someone who has a romantic and/or sexual orientation towards someone of the same gender" is false, as homosexuality is sex-based. I'm not attracted to gender - I'm attracted to a sex. Am I not "valid", Stonewall? For some reason, it is now considered offensive for a lesbian to say she is a female homosexual. This is appalling. Where is Stonewall in its support of lesbians? Why is it offensive to say you are same sex attracted? Having met a few Stonewall staff, I am shocked at their open homophobia and lesbophobia, and inability to acknowledge differences of opinions on trans issues. As a lesbian in the UK, I have been literally told that it is "preferencing" if I am not attracted to trans women. I have been told all my life that I am a lesbian because I have not experienced the right penis. This is offensive, no matter whether it comes from a trans woman or a man. And speaking as someone who has been physically and verbally attacked for being gay, I find it really appalling that Stonewall doesn't think lesbians need protecting. Stonewall is not looking out for me and it is not looking out for young lesbian women, especially the butch ones who are encouraged to medically transition. I oppose Stonewall's hiring of Morgan Page, whose 'cotton ceiling' workshop taught participants how to violate lesbians' consent. As a butch lesbian, I am constantly asked if I am "really" trans, what my preferred pronouns are, if I have dysphoria, etc. Stonewall is perpetuating the idea that masculinity is the purview of transmen and males. And this is filtering down to youth via its educational materials, which encourage gender-questioning youth to go on a medicalised path to transition. This is right for some.. but not for all.

I am signing because I think there can be no such thing as ‘gender self-identification’, and I oppose the promulgation of that idea by any organisation. I am signing because I detest the ideology, of which ‘gender self-ID’ is a part, which has no other object than to disrupt, defame and discredit traditional relations between the sexes while being constitutionally incapable of formulating any positive political arrangement for society to move towards other than nihilistic egoism and empty individualism.

I believe transgender people can be recognised, legitimized and supported without resorting to false and unproven ideologies. We must base all human rights, including gender identity, in logic and facts.

The type of transactivism you are defending right now has significant flaws and dangers as it is based on a non-scientific assumption called innate, fixed gender identity, thought in school as a spectrum between a feminine and a masculine expression. This solidify gender sterotypes and mislead vulnerable gender non-conforming kids to identity as the opposite sex, when all they do is just to perform gender non-conforming behaviors. This policy also erases lesbians, and definitely doesn't consider their choice to be attracted to someone's sex. You also confuse sex and gender, and erase the first; while sex actually do matter.

I fear that many people are unaware of the consultation which does not appear to have been done widely enough especially as debate is being closed down

Stonewall must acknowledge there is a conflict of interest when the group being redefined is women and the group demanding inclusion is males. Bull headedly pushing for the 'rights' of one group while trampling over the rights of other, calling any gatekeeping and safeguarding 'transphobic' and redefining words without consent is not going to end well. There's only so much you can hide behind misinformation and lazy rhetoric.

Please, don't exclude females from all we have fought so hard for over the centuries. By allowing trans women into female only spaces you are excluding females who do not feel safe with men. Any man.

We can accommodate women’s rights to same sex spaces and trans rights to live without discrimination. Stop appropriating women’s spaces and talk to is

Thank you! Finally someone said it. Tired of getting told by trans people that I have to date them and I’m also sick of Stonewall redefining gay and lesbian to include people who fundamentally cannot be included in my homosexuality.

The T cannot be the only part of LGBT that matters. Stonewall must respect homosexuality - otherwise what is the actual point of stonewall? Not what people believe it is for sure.

Gender identity ideology is regressive, misogynistic, lesbophobic and homophobic. As another signer said: Open the debate.

I agree with every word of this Petition. Stonewall could be a powerful force for good in this debate but instead chooses to align itself with and represent only one viewpoint when aware that this is at odds with respecting lesbian sexuality, which only has one meaning: same-sex attraction. No on can change sex so gender identity is irrelevant. Stonewall lied about its proposals to Government during the GRA Consultation, proposals to change the Equality Act that would hurt women and girls, and was found out. Those women and girls include lesbians. I sincerely hope that the change of leadership will usher in an approach more deserving of respect and trust.
