Pressure on lesbians from transgender activists is unrelenting and unacceptable. More careful discussion is needed

Stonewall are making themselves the authority on trans issues so that they can profit from this. They can charge businesses for workshops to help 'educate' them about how to implement GRA changes, and gain public money to create policies for schools and so on. Therefore they are pushing for self ID without discussion for their own gain. In the US, Massachusetts are the first state to have a ballot (in November) to repeal the law that allows self identifying transgender people access to single sex spaces, and if this happens it could lead to more states doing likewise. People want to give trans people more rights and visibility, but they have found it problematic to do so at a cost to the safety of girls and women. This shows that wider discussion is needed, and not steamrolling in to declaring self ID as law. It's irresponsible of Stonewall to not encourage wide and fair debate on these issues, or it could lead to a similar situation in the UK where self ID is made law and then leads to an outcry of people wanting it reversed. This hurts trans people, it's not dignified to be given rights and then have them taken away because non-trans people are using self ID as a red light to hurt girls and women. Stonewall should stop going for the money, and start speaking up for the safety and rights of all trans people, gay people and lesbians.

There is deep sexism in the very notion of gender identity. It cements notions that are clearly cultural stereotypes into quasi-spiritual beliefs. I’ve asked for years on social media that Stonewall speak out against the growing misogyny blatantly driving much so-called transactivism, with its ridiculous ‘TERF’ invective. No response. The organisation has been led astray - whether for money, or vanity it genuinely held beliefs or a blend thereof. The result is a list opportunity to develop the great work of the previous decades and a quasi-cultish obsession that the impossible is true. Transwomen are NOT women, they are men. Trans men are not men they are women. All the furious insistence in the world won’t change that but it might, if rechannelled and reimagined into reality-based hunger for an end to the oppression of gender (not sex), change the world for the better. Listen to what people are telling you.

Please consider how this ideology affects lesbian and gay members not to mention the entire female population.

I believe trans people should be a protected group with rights and recognitions of their own without encroaching on women's sex based rights. I believe in open, honest discussion.

As a lesbian I have supported Stonewall was many years. But no longer. They have forgotten who they were created to be and have actually become a homophobic organisation.

UK law is meant to protect the rights of one group being overturned in favour of another. When the rights, freedoms and security of 51% of the population is at risk from a small minority, we must take action to stop this.

I honestly don’t think you represent Trans men and women. You represent an angry faction who want to control others. Women will not agree to this ever and trans people get their needs ignored whilst you wage this silly battle of words.

Stonewall please reconsider your stance on this. A candle doesn't burn brighter if it extinguishes its neighbour but the world becomes a darker place for all. There has to be a middle ground on this....let’s find it

Stonewall's position on these issues has been unforgivable. Biological women need and deserve sex segregated spaces. Stonewall is currently enabling male abuse, bastardizing language, undermining safeguarding and legitimatizing the mockery of women's (especially lesbian's) boundaries. Every penny I would have donated to Stonewall has gone to Woman's Place UK and Fairplay for Women. Gender self ID is a gift to male predators.

I’m not gay or lesbian, but I grew up with friends who are, and I’m very concerned that children like them are now being guided down a road of major surgeries and lifelong medical patient status by adults who are supposed to protect them. If left alone, the majority would grow to be happy, fulfillled gay and lesbian adults, not manufactured heterosexuals.

I find the statement on FairPlayforwomen.com one of the most powerful political statements I have read about the damage being caused by the attempt to replace ‘gender’ with ‘sex’. It is quite wrong that the law should be changed in this way - it will be a threat to girls and women and make a nonsense of the very notion of female and male. Stonewall’s approach is causing a backlash which will sweep it away and all the good LGB work it has done. It is frightening that the extreme trans lobby has got as far as it has through the ‘capture’ of key policy positions and the fear of everyone else to stand up and challenge.
