I find it very disturbing that a man previously convicted of offences against women can be placed in a women's prison purely because he says he "identifies as a woman". Surely unless a man is prepared to undertake gender reassignment surgery and take hormone treatment, he cannot be afforded the description "woman"? +

I can't believe that we're having to ask Stonewall, of all organisations, to stop its blatant homophobia and misogyny. You are throwing women, lesbians and transsexuals under the bus with the pushing of violently aggressive and totalitarian transgender ideology. Shame on you for enabling this. Homosexuality exists. Women exist and are more than a feeling in a man's head. No means no. Get over it.

Stop erasing women. We are real. Trans women are trans women.

Dear Stonewall, I am concerned that some trans politics has the effect of wiping out lesbianism - and could be considered homophobic. This politics also seeks to attack sex based rights- such as autonomous women’s spaces. It is also based on bad science and very dangerous to any serious consideration of the issues which are being systematically suppressed.

Gender identity politics is the new fascism

Please stop being homophobic and maybe learn how to support the LGB. Transgender is not a sexuality, it is a mental illness as any transsexual will tell you if only you'd listen. Children are not trans - EVER - keep your sick hands off our children. Also, stop being so lesbophobic and misogynist. How about working to make this world a safer place for LG&B and try making some sense over the trans b.s. All of the trans folk I know are embarrassed and terrified at the violence of trans activism because they do not want to be associated with shutting women up and advocating for trans identified male rapists to be welcomed into women's prisons, women's shelters, childrens' changing rooms. Take a good hard, critical look at what you're doing by shutting down debate.

Protect women and girls from male predators in dresses

Stonewall’s transgender policy and support for hardline trans activists is a betrayal of same-sex relationships and the right of lesbians and gay men to be exclusive in their sexual orientation. The policy also consistently ignores the needs and perspectives of females, seeing them as inferior - or worse, invisible- when their rights clash with those of trans women. Most of all, Stonewall is colluding with the dishonest, cruel and unjust branding of so many progressive feminists (and increasingly gay men speaking out) as ‘bigots’ . This is totally absurd and alienates the very people who are natural trans allies. I’m also horrified at the way they are manipulating vulnerable young people under 16 to respond to the GRA consultation using their own biased guidance and by asking a teacher to help! As a teacher I can tell you this is completely out of order and would be an abuse of power and our professional position if any teachers were to get involved in this.

As a person who has advocated for Stonewall in the past, shutting down any debate as transphobic is counter productive and harmful. Safeguarding women and girls is necessary. Stonewall has an opportunity here.

We all have to listen and take on board people's views fairly and without judgement.

Rights must be balanced. Women's safety trumps trans validation.

Lesbians deserve proper representation and protection

This issue isn’t going away nor going your way so listen to people who respectfully tell you you’re getting this wrong. That’s the sensible thing to do now.

Stonewall politicswkth its uncritical promotion of transgenderism certainly does not defend lesbian rights which are sex-based rights and attacks sexual orientation based rights.

I completely agree with these aims. Safeguarding women and children is not anti-trans women's rights. This conversation needs to start to happen in a sensible and civilised way.

Without allowing debate and useful discussion, current position ends up being homophobic and misogynistic, which hardly seems in line with stonewall's historic mission.

Lesbians, have the right to their own women/female only spaces and resources. We were not consulted and did not agree to organizations we helped found and fund deciding our boundaries must be ignored, and actively torn down. Stonewall is fostering an environment hostile to female homosexuals. I'd say it's the height of irony, but then I've been around long enough to see the sexism in all gay and lesbian organizations. Do better.
