Silencing anyone who needs to discuss this issue is wrong!!

Trans women and Trans men deserve basic human rights, decency and respect. No person thinks otherwise. Prioritizing gender over sex however is a massive safeguarding issue and it is only a matter of time before stories of those who seek to do harm become common place rather than every now and then. Women and girls should not be thrown under the bus just so a man, one with an intact penis can change in front of a woman or girl.

The 'gender' (sex) debate is toxic.
I feel devastated that I can't support Stonewall in its current iteration as I don't know why it's become so polarised.
It feels so harsh. It's 'lesbian-phobic' which is devastating as it was so brilliant back in the day.
I was poor then, now I'm not but I, like many my age, can't give it my money which I have more of now.

The way in which debate is being silenced is deepening divides. The hostile language like 'terfs' is creating anger. Those who are genuinely transphobic will see the debate on this and hostility towards 'trans rights activists' as support for their views whereas by working together, this would be prevented. Stonewall's stance is harming women and harming transpeople. Together we would be stronger in campaigning for a world where the rights of all are respected.

Current policy is dealing in absolutes and mantras rather than addressing real arguments and concerns put forward by women and lesbians about their own rights

Stonewall's approach in recent years has been bullying and anti-democratic. It is no longer an organisation people are proud to be part of or to champion. There must be room for intellectual debate when women, transsexuals and gay, lesbian and bi people are peacefully asking for more than one - not scientifically proven - viewpoint not to override everyone else's. That is what makes a civilised society.

The rights of women, and the rights of lesbian and gay people, were won by challenging a culture of demonisation, irrationality, false narratives, silencing and virtue-signalling (where the "virtue" consisted in endorsing a sexist and homophobic status quo). The needs of trans people, of women, and of gay and lesbian people, are all badly served by the atmosphere in which the debate about how to meet the genuine needs of trans people is currently taking place.

Women’s history, lives and experiences must be considered. Fed up being told what we can and can’t say about our lives and lived experiences.

Women need to space to feel and be safe, allowing anyone to put them and actual trans people in danger is a mistake. How will you react when a trans woman in a woman’s toilet is attacked by a man who decided ten minutes before he fancied using the women’s toilet?
I understand that you want to be inclusive of everyone but that should not be at the expense of someone else regardless of gender. Dangerous precedent and quite frankly Stonewall you should be ashamed

Transwomen are transwomen, and should be lifted up, respected and celebrated. But Transwomen are not women, and we must be more mindful of this.

I've always been a friend and ally to gay, lesbian and bi people. My godfather is gay, seeing as I'm 54 you can tell that my parents were allies, too. Over the years Stonewall has done important work. But your focus on transgender issues, the complete lack of willingness to engage with women whose sex-based rights are directly under threat from self-ID is disturbing. The stance that 'trans women are women' is illogical and insulting given that many transwomen are transvestites who have no intention to receive medical support. Transsexuals are even being marginalised on this issue, many are firm in their declaration that they are trans women, not women. The issues with self-ID have been made clear through a number of cases highlighted by the national media, it's time to talk to women.
I wholeheartedly support this petition.

A person with a penis is a man regardless of sexual orientation and should not be allowed into women-only spaces.

I sit watching divisions form where there were none. Between women and trans women, between trans and lesbians. Between women and LGBT in general because the organisations like this are destroying something they value. Please rethink your approach. Women cannot accept the line you are promoting, you are forcing even the most mild to pick a side and will choose the one that represents their own. If division and hatred is your goal this is the way to go about it. Stop building stone walls around women.

The worst aspect of what is happening at the moment around the proposed reform of the GRA is the absolute refusal of trans activists to speak to anyone who has concerns. There is the occasional exchange on Twitter that achieved a degree of respectful and informed discussion, but otherwise the trans activist and their organisational allies basically chuck out endless variations of “transwomen are women, no debate”. And always barely a mention of trans men. Because this is about women and silencing and it is outrageous that Stonewall has so lost it purpose and simply dismisses any concerns raised by lesbians, and some gay men, re their stance on trans issues.

Tragic how Stonewall has abandoned its core purpose to encourage attacks on women’s protected spaces and rights. Defending Male body rights over Lesbians Right to same biological body/sex attraction is utterly abhorrent not transphobic to say so!
