The loss of the bee population would be unarguably devastating to California's agriculture. Almost all of the produce we eat is pollinated by bees. Without them, California would have to outsource its crops, not only bringing in food of questionable origin, but completely ruining local farmers. Under the California Code of Regulations, pesticides that are fatal to bees are completely legal so long as it expressly says that it kills bees on the bottle. However, a label will not stop the bee population from dying out. As so many bees have died already recently, we can only hope to stop further decimation from occurring. We urge Congressman Thompson: please propose a bill to ban these pesticides from being sold and used. There has to be a better way.
