Did you know that the average woman will spend $5,600 on her period during her lifetime? For something that is natural and can't be controlled, that is a lot of money going to waste. I am working to create a program at Bridgewater State University that will provide students with free and easy access to menstrual products in our academic buildings. According to a study done by Free the Tampon, 86% of women started their period in public without the supplies they need and 79% of women improvised by creating a tampon or pad out of toilet paper or something else. These statistics are way too high for an issue that can be solved easily. This program will ensure female students will have a safe place to go and rely on and will also relieve any emotional or social embarrassment that they may have because of their period.
