Agree wholeheartedly with this... no way a highway toll would cost nearly $100 one way. Its infeasible and avoidable.

the only factor in the loss of ridership and thereby tourism opportunities and quality of life for people living on the isalnd is the outrageous fares. Fare reduction must be the primary goal and key success measure of the BC Ferry corporation. The current software upgrade will have minimal impact on ridership and must be evaluated in this light.

I agree that the whole ferry situation needs to be looked at from end to end with input from real users both tourists and especially people for whom it is required transportation for shopping, medical, work and recreation

BC Ferries has tried, for too long and with no success, to spend our money in luxurious ways rather than keeping fares reasonable for passengers. It is time BC Ferries realizes they are NOT a cruise ship, rather, they are basic transportation and a link in the highway system. I for one am tired of them paying lip service to their promises of listening to customers. It is time for an intervention by someone who has the passengers in mind.

I use the ferry system frequently for family and business purposes. This continual increase in fares is seriously impacting residents, visitors and the province of BC itself. Getting to and from Vancouver Island should be an accessible right for people and yet it isn't due to increased fares that don't seem to show any benefit to riders to begin with. More and more I am hearing it is just too expensive for me to travel to the island so it isn't an option or desire any more. Something needs to change.

BC Ferries has damaged the Sunshine Coast economy by raising fares past the point where we can afford travel. I am now forced to change my lifestyle and limits travel. We are not attending family events, shopping or leisure activities unless its highest priority. The local resident economy is going down. This summer was a decrease in tourism and that is when most businesses make profit. The decline in my travel in the 14 years as resident is dramatic lower the last two years. I was not concerned about a small price increase in a year, but the cost now is too high.

I am trying to add my signature to this petition with no luck. however, my comments here reflect my concerns with a bloated, confused transportation system whose sole function should be to get citizens from point a to point b in a timely, inexpensive manner. this is certainly not happening.
